Surrexit Christus! Happy Easter!
Allelulia! Christ is Risen! He has Risen as He said! Allelulia!
"Noli Me Tangere." What I noticed about the Gospel reading from St Mark, is the Angel instructs St Mary Magdalen to, "Go and tell the disciples and Peter 'He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you.'" Once again, Peter is singled out. He is not just one of the Apostles - he is Prince of the Apostles! The Pope!
"You'll never guess who I've just seen. Oh boy, this is going to freak you out...Peter! "
According to the Gospel, St John got there first in the race to reach Christ's burial place. At this point they were neck and neck. 'Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there and the face cloth which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in and he saw and believed.'
So, St John outruns St Peter to the tomb, yet doesn't go in, just stoops to look inside. St Peter, who said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the ever living God," on the other hand, runs straight in. Then St John follows and believes. So, the Pope can't run as fast as St John, but still sees the linen cloths first and not just the linen cloths but the face cloth too!! Respect!!
