Be Afraid, Dave...Be Very Afraid...

Seriously, though. We should. St Jude is patron of lost/desperate/helpless/beyond hope/despairing causes/cases and I believe the 'same-sex marriage' proposal might just qualify for that title. I know its St Lucy's Day, but all let's pray to St Jude for help against this proposal until its all over.

The Prayer to St Jude
O most holy apostle, Saint Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honoureth and
invoketh thee universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, and of things almost despaired of.
Pray for me, who am so miserable.
Make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded to thee, to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost despaired of.
Come to mine assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolation and succor of Heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (here make your request) and that I may praise God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity.
I promise thee, O blessed Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour thee as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to thee.
 Amen.

Can't do any harm, can it?

Thanks. Can you make the pic of the guns a bit bigger tho'? We could all use some encouragement. Over here in Italy we have Sant'Antonio di Padova, Santa Rita who are well known to lend an ear to those in desperate straits. Of course if we had not been so paganized we would also be invoking St George and the Archangel Michael. Oremus.

I am not sure our Bishop would approve of us praying or fighting for a lost cause.

Nicolas Bellord has a point. I seem to remember our Bishop said that one should only fight for a cause which we could be sure of winning. No wonder we laity are becoming so apathetic if our Bishops are so defeatist.

The big anti gay-marriage demo planned for Paris on the 13th January has received more publicity in the form of news that on Dec 8th at a demo in Lille a Priest taking part was told by the 'forces d'ordre' to hide himself in the middle of the demonstrators as he was too visible in what was described as his 'ecclesiastical habit.' I do not know if this was a religious habit or a cassock.

However it now appears that the organisers are asking those religious planning to join the January march that they should not be visibly seen as religious. It has been pointed out that Socialists have been allowed to carry their banners and gays who also disagree with same-sex marriage can have their banners too. I wonder if this will apply also to Moslem clerics who have taken part in such demonstrations?
