Year of Faith Symposium

A rather interesting event I discovered on the newsletter of a local Catholic Church.

St John's Seminary at Wonersh will be hosting a symposium entitled 'A Sure Compass: The Documents of the Council', on Thursday 5th September.

Sr Finbarr Coffey will speak on Vatican II and the Consecrated Life, Dr Pia Matthews will present Gaudium et Spes as 'an offer of service to mankind'; Bishop Philip Egan will talk about Ad Gentes and the New Evangelisation; Fr Tim Finigan will compare (not contrast) Trent and Vatican II as 'two moments of reform and renewal in the Church'; Dr Anthony Towey will reflect on Dignitatis Humanae.

The cost (to cover refreshments and lunch) is £10. Programme updates will be posted at www.wonersh.org and places on the symposium can be booked at symposium@wonersh.org.

The Tablet will hate this. It's yet more evidence of a 'changing of the guard'. It would have been unthinkable even 10 years ago, and in a seminary too. I think its what's known as parking orthodox tanks on what were once liberal lawns.

I could not find anything about it on the wonersh.org website but did on:

Anyway thanks to the Bones for the information.

Putting those people in a room together could end up in a fight. It could end up with having to call the police.
