Ascension of the Lord

'He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "Why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

This is one of my favourite pieces of scripture. Take note, Fr Alexander Lucie-Smith and everyone who was at the exegesis of the Gospel of St Mark on Tuesday...It's those men in white again!

Today is the Ascension of Our Lord. Click here to ask the new Archbishop to restore the Church in England to the true calendar of the Catholic Church and re-instate today as a Holy Day of Obligation. It appears that for the convenience of modern man, the Bishops of England and Wales had it moved to Sunday so people wouldn't have to drag their arses to Mass on a Thursday...because as we know, going to Mass is like, such an effort! The last thing that God wants to do is inconvenience us. He's rather we stayed in and played poker! Sheesh!
