Smuggled Pigeons 'Down Under' Mans Trousers

Courtesy of Telegraph Online

On a lighter note (I can't read about Angela Merkel's "rebuke" of Pope Benedict XVI without having an irritating facial spasm) an Australian man was arrested at Melbourne Airport for smuggling two pigeons and their eggs in his trousers which he grabbed illegally in Dubai.

Quite right too, for if these pigeons had wanted to fly to Australia they could have done so of their own accord. Look at their little heads, you can tell what a traumatic flight they have had, and as for the 'in-flight' entertainment, the mind boggles!

When stopped by Customs and Eggsise the man was asked whether it was true he had some pigeons down his trousers, to which he is reported to have said, "You're aviary-ing a laugh, aren't you? What me? This is an eggstremely wild, malicious and slanderous accusation...Oh my Lord, how did they get there?! Bird...bird, officer, you don't understand! Why doven't anyone understand? Why doven't anyone understand?! Just coo on earth do you think you are?! I demand to see my solicitor...I'll see your asses in coo-urt! Oh yes! Now that's you've seen mine. Well, my oh my, this has really put the cat amongst the pigeons! I can't believe this is flappening. Whatever nest!? I suppose you think this is some kind of game, don't you?! What, you want to arrest me? Just for this poultry crime?! I suppose you're going to put some kind of homing device on me, aren't you?!" He was carriered off to undergo further investigation. He maintains his innocence and claims that he will be eggsonerated when it comes to trial.

Shouldn't joke about it really, poor man could get a maximum of 10 years for this. Bit harsh I think...

Well, I just hope pigeons don't attack the ankles like ferrets. Thank God the ancient 'sport' of 'ferret legging', a competition to see who could keep ferrets down their trousers the longest, is no longer practised. Having had a few nips from my boys on the ankles, I can confirm it's a bit painful! They don't bite or nip anymore though. Currently fast asleep in their hammocks, no doubt dreaming of stashing mounds of chicken! Tanya

Nice to hear from you Tanya. Glad to hear the ferrets are doing well!

Yes, they're quite good boys on the whole. I have to take them out in the snow. They've never seen it before only being a year old. I expect lots of digging! Anyway, back to the pigeons- wonder what Darstadly and Muttley would make of it?

I have no idea!

10 years - that's 5 years per pigeon!

And you forgot the aubergine which makes it even more bizarre!

Sorry to break this to you, son, but it looks like you'll be doing 5-10 years in a state pigeontentiary, mandatory.
