A man for the Pope, but a man against Christ |
According to Catholic Conclave...
In an exclusive interview with the Christian weekly magazine Tertio, Cardinal Baldisseri has said..."The Church is not timeless, she lives amidst the vicissitudes of history and the Gospel must be known and experienced by people today," says Baldisseri."It is in the present that the message should be, with all respect for the integrity from whom the message has been received. We now have two synods to treat this complex theme of the family and I believe that these dynamics in two movements will allow a more adequate response to the expectations of the people", says the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops. He also notes that "Familiaris Consortio" of John Paul II, the last great ecclesiastical document on this subject is 33 years old.
Cardinal Baldisseri confirmed in interview that the Pope Francis wishes the local bishops to be seriously involved in the global governance of the church and a new balance between centralization and local autonomy.
'Familiaris Consortio' is 33 years old and, because of its 'great age' the Cardinal disputes its relevance to the times. God is Eternal and God (and His Church Triumphant) are timeless. I guess that's why He's deemed not to be relevant to the times. After all, His Church should not be confused with a 'divine institution' should it? Good grief! A lot of the men proposing some 'updating' of Christ's teaching are not young. Is it wise for people for whom death is not exactly decades away to jeopardise so recklessly their own Salvation and the Salvation of souls in their care, by rejecting what the Church has held 'always and everywhere' and embracing some alien gospel that runs in contradiction to the Magisterium?
Unless the Church is Holy, Her Teaching timeless and the Holy Spirit guides these often doddery, often elderly men, exactly how would Catholic families be confident in any way that such elderly men - who have never had a wife and family of their own to look after - come out of the Synod with anything resembling a wise and faithful response to the breakdown in the family and marriage which is faithful to Jesus Christ, Our Lord? In the thought of Cardinals such as Baldy, the Church is not Holy, but just simply another NGO. Isn't that what Pope Francis, who elevated this man to be a Cardinal, said he did not want? The vicissitudes of history are many but, so what? It is strange, is it not, that no age has the humility to consider itself anything but modern and contemporary - far advanced from the previous one as to be unrecognisable?
Still, what a joker. If a Cardinal cannot accept something written by a Pope just canonised by Holy Church because its all of 33 years old, what hope that the Cardinal would be able to give assent to anything Our Lord Jesus Christ said at all? He might as well sack the whole 'Faith' thing off! By tradition Our Lord was 33 when He was crucified for our sins, but then, hey ho, that and His Glorious Resurrection was little short of a whole 2,000 years ago. Therefore, man in the 21st century is relevant, but Our Lord? No. Sorry, Lord, perhaps when You return, you'll be in a better position to make Your views known because, after all, what You said back then, that which You entrusted to Your Church to make known, is - apparently - made obsolete by the long period of Your delay. Modern man - especially modern Cardinals - only appreciate the power of Now. Perhaps that's what Cardinal Lorenzo believes, but then again, maybe he just doesn't believe at all.
'But yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth?'
By Baldy's own logic, St John the Apostle, who we are informed lived to an old age, could claim, if he lived towards his mid-sixties, that what Our Lord said to him and the Apostles 33 years ago is no longer relevant, so the Church can kiss the Teaching bye bye!
As Creative Minority Report suggests, all is not well within Camp Francis, since even a rebuke to the LCWR from Cardinal Mueller cannot go without a completely contradictory rebuke from Cardinal Kasper telling the nuns they are doing just fine and dandy. The truth will, we are promised win in the end, but my, oh my, what a sorry mess things are promising to be in the meantime.

I can't see a 'Humanae Vitae'-type result on the horizon here.
Bishop Frank is no Pope Paul VI.
Bishop Frank is a very special kind of bishop indeed.

According to the magisterial explanations from the time of St. Pius X. in my Vulgata-Bible the answer is "no" or rather only the faith of a remnant.
Dear Walter et al.,
"You are of your father the devil: and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning: and he stood not in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof". John 8:44

So there we go...
is that really all you took away from baldy's 'teaching'? Really?
I read the 'art of war' once, and mainly its thesis is, if you can conquer without people knowing they've been conquered you've mastered the art. I'd say the Bishops of Vii were masters of the art of conquering truth in people's hearts and setting up lies.
