Sad and Surreal

What do these sentiments for unity mean in concrete terms?

Apostasy. Rejection of Our Lord's commandments. Rejection of the means of salvation given to us by God. Lord, save us.

These acts are not only indefensible, they are directly contrary to Infallible Doctrine that pre-existed the V2 rocket which was launched without infallible fuel.

Hence they err in a matter of divine truth, who imagine the Church to be invisible, intangible, a something merely "pneumatological" as
they say, by which many Christian communities, though they differ from each other in their profession of faith, are united by an invisible bond.[5]

In the same way this great encyclical letter reproves the error and confusion inherent in the writings of those Catholics who taught the existence of a twofold Church of God in this world:

For this reason We deplore and condemn the pernicious error of those who dream of an imaginary Church, a kind of society that finds its origin and growth in charity, to which, somewhat contemptuously, they oppose another, which they call juridical. But this distinction which they introduce is false: for they fail to understand that the reason which led our Divine Redeemer to give to the community of men He founded the constitution of a Society, perfect in its kind and containing all the juridical and social elements-namely, that He might perpetuate on earth the saving work of Redemption- was also the reason why He willed it to be enriched with the heavenly gifts of the Paraclete.[6]

Finally, Pope Pius XII, writing in the Mystici Corporis Christi set forth the truth that the visible Catholic Church is actually the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ, the true Church of God spoken of in the Scriptures, when he brought out the fact that the members of the Catholic Church recognizable as such, or, in other words, the members of the visible Catholic Church, are the true and only members of the true Church. He wrote:

Actually only those are to be included () as members of
the Church who have been baptized and profess the true faith, and who have not been so unfortunate as to separate themselves from the unity of the Body (), or been excluded by legitimate authority for grave faults committed.
[7]

There was another point magnificently clarified by the late Sovereign Pontiff in the text of the Mystici Corporis Christi. That was the teaching on the necessity of the Catholic Church for the attainment of eternal salvation. The following passage gives precious instruction on the status of those who are linked to the true Church by an unconscious or merely implicit desire or intention to enter this society.

As you know, Venerable Brethren, from the very beginning of Our Pontificate, We have committed to the protection and guidance of heaven those who do not belong to the visible Body of the Catholic Church (), solemnly declaring that after the example of the Good Shepherd We desire nothing more ardently than that they may have life and have it more abundantly. Imploring the prayers of the whole Church We wish to repeat this solemn declaration in this Encyclical Letter in which We have proclaimed the praises of the "great and glorious Body of Christ," and from a heart overflowing with love We ask each and every one of them to correspond to the interior movements of grace, and to seek to withdraw from that state in which they cannot be sure of their salvation (). For even though by an unconscious desire and longing () they have a certain relationship () with the Mystical Body of the Redeemer, they still remain deprived of those manyheavenly gifts and helps which can only be enjoyed in the Catholic Church. Therefore may they enter into Catholic unity and, joined with Us in the one, organic Body of Jesus Christ (), may they together with us run on to the one Head in the Society of glorious love. Persevering in prayer to the Spirit of love and truth, We wait for them with open and outstretched arms to come not to a stranger's house, but to their own, their father's home.

I must say I found it very difficult to hear what was being said. Who were the participants? It all seemed a bit vague and friendly but nothing more. Perhaps I missed something?

Just a recap of many Vatican 2 sentiments. I am employed by a conservative Novus Ordo parish, but in my heart I'm a Vat 2 rejecting SSPXer. Hell some days I'm downright sede.

I agree with Nicolas Belford - the sound of the interpreter was too muffled for me to make anything out of it so I gave up watching. Perhaps younger ears could catch what was being said? I wonder if the video appear anywhere else with English subtitles?

I was impressed how Pope Francis got up to welcome the latecomer (who was he?)who presumably would have felt embarrassed at having come in as everyone else (who were they?) was already seated. And amused when it looks as if he turned to the lady next to him to say 'Now where was I.'

It was just so woffly and boring, I gave up after a few minutes. I doubt many will watch it, so its impact will be limited. Where did you find it anyway? Why doesn't The Holy Father just tell them they need to join the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by Our Lord?

The pope is too worried about his image, how he comes across to everyone outside of the Church. And he insults nearly every group inside the Church.

He's quite vain, placing his hopes in what others (again outside the church) in what others think of him.

He's like a bill clinton, without the sexual sin, or a barack obama without the haughtiness. Loves to be loved by the right types.

Dear Sir,

Yes, it is a sad video.

However, I think that with every passing day, the Faithful and general population are catching on to what is behind the Wizards curtain.

Do not despair.

I want to thank you for compiling the Francis Little Book of Insults. It has been an invaluable source for understanding the thought process of Francis. I am posting you a link to my website in which your work plays an integral part.

Please review if you so choose.

There is now an article about this on Chiesa and a transcription of what the Pope said:

I think the Pope is just trying to be nice to everyone.

Exactly. That's his sacred mission as successor of St Peter. Blessed Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

Nothing wrong with being nice. Truth in charity and all that. But let's not forget the Truth in the process.

What these sentiments mean is that if you don't want to be shackled to a religion that requires Sunday and Holy Obligation Day attendance, confessing your sins to a priest or fasting---but you still want to go to heaven? Ditch the Roman religion and go back to easy peasy Protestantism.

Nice schmice. Jesus wasn't nice when he took a whip to the temple vendors. St Nicholas wasn't nice when he slugged Arius (of the Arian heresy).

Besides it is possible to be nice without comprising the truth of what we believe.

However, given the pope's comments, it really shouldn't be a problem for me to switch to an SSPX or sedevacantist chapel. And it shouldn't be a problem for me to believe that Francis might be both an antipope and the false prophet who heralds in the reign of the antichrist. After all, we are all from the same baptism---so let us not focus on these minor theological differences of opinion.

Well, there do appear to be two completely different Catholic Churches in some areas.

As an example, there are the many local franchises of the shadow church in Sarasota County, Florida where one can go to the Lil' Licit Liturgy and then there is the FSSP Apostolate at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sarasota where one can assist at the Real Mass.

If a man born into the Church in, say, 1948, were to walk into a local franchise of the shadow church he'd prolly wonder why it had been sold to the piskies whereas if he walked into Christ The King, he'd feel right at home.
