Useless Platitudes

There is a lot of stuff on the TV and in the media about the Holocaust at the moment. For reasons of historical balance, I look forward to the documentaries gracing our screens concerning the 30 to 50 million killed by Joseph Stalin's regime but I won't hold my breath.

That said it is important that we do not forget. If the mass media desire that we only focus on and remember one genocide of the many gracing the 20th century, then that is better than forgetting them all.

The 70th anniversary of the Holocaust is a good time for Governments across the world not merely to recall the loss of predominantly Jewish life and to reject again the hatred of the Jewish people embodied by Nazism, but to rededicate themselves to fight against policies which are contrary to the protection of the dignity of all human life.

Unfortunately, I must say that I get a bit sick of hearing the great and the good mouthing the mantra, 'Never again!' concerning genocide, murder and the destruction of human life, while globally the unborn are targeted for destruction in the womb and are systematically and industrially murdered under human law. I get a little bit tired of hearing 'Never again!' while Christians and others are being hunted down and killed in different parts of the world, while the world's leaders do diddly squat about it. "Never again" is something of an insult to today's victims while its still happening.

I get a little tired of hearing 'Never again!' while the policies of the Nazi regime concerning the extermination of the 'unfit' and the 'unproductive' are incrementally imported into Western Government's legislation through euthanasia and 'assisted suicide'. I get a little tired of hearing 'never again' while Western Government's imitate Dr Josef Mengele's experimentation on children by using their warped 'we can do it so we will' amorality to justify experimentation on human embryos for 'medical advancement'. I get a little tired of hearing 'never again' in this age in which the eugenics movement literally thrives with huge funding from wealthy benefactors and is even promoted throughout the corridors of power with near total 'diplomatic immunity'.

Every genocide is evil.

What useless platitudes we mouth in this absurd age of unparalleled hypocrisy. 'Never again!' What a joke! People were blind to the extermination of human life by genocide in the 1940s. Only the blind could say, 'Never again!' now. So when they say, 'Never again' - given that its still happening and will most likely continue to happen, I'll just assume that they mean 'never again for this group of people who we are duty bound to defend, but more or less everybody else can go hang'. Genocide is genocide. Every genocide is evil. If you say 'never again' mean it and mean it for everybody, born or unborn, young or old, mentally or physically strong, or weak, gentile or Jew. Prince Charles today says the Holocaust is an "unparalleled human tragedy". Sorry to offend but there is parallel as a matter of historical fact both in the 20th century and in ongoing trends in human societies right now.

I suppose that one aspect of the tragedy was that whether Slavs, dissidents, gypsies or Jews were being put on the list for extermination by the Nazis, certain people thought there was some kind of justification for the treatment of the particular groups. Nothing has changed, so let's not pretend it has, because abortion has claimed the lives of between one to two billion unborn children in the last 50 years. These are figures to which even the Holocaust - in its depraved and tragic gravity of genocidal evil - cannot hold a candle. Not that its a competition, of course.

I've got the time and the inclination to remember and respect and pray for the victims of every genocidal movement and regime that has 'graced' our human history but when people say 'never again' I only wish that they mean it and for all. If six million human beings were systematically murdered during the Holocaust, and government leaders learn nothing from that, then no matter how much you say 'never again', they have zero credibility.

Also, let's not forget that when it comes to unlawful killing, there is no question of quantity. We should not say six million deaths are worse than three million, or that one billion is worse than both.

ANY genocide is evil, and any institution that participates is satanic. Thus, I'm sure you join me in condemning the Roman Catholic Church for its involvement in Nazi genocides against the Serbs. No conspiracy this one, it's documented historical fact.

So many falsehoods have been uttered in the furtherance of the Holocaust Industry, not least the slanderous lies made against one of the holiest Popes of our times, Eugenio Pacelli, Pope Pius XII.

When I realized that they could defame the good name of a man such as this, I simply couldn't accept that they were being sincere in anything else they told.

And don't forget, at the same time that the Soviet government were promulgating the story of the "gas chambers", they were also trying to convince the world that it was the Nazi forces of Germany that committed the horrendous executions that have come to be known to history as the Katyn Massacre.

In fact, the Soviets still claimed it was the Germans who were responsible for the massacre right up until the 1990s, when they at last admitted their guilt.

You see, sometimes people lie. And the Soviets lied a lot. Why anyone would believe a single thing they said is beyond me.

Deacon Augustine said...

Well said.

The parallels between the "holocaust" and abortion are manifest. In both cases the perpetrators deny the humanity and right to life of the victim. The murderers who deny the humanity of the unborn child are no different from the murderers who deny the humanity of the Jew.

While this dehumanising of particular groups of people is allowed to continue, then, as you say, the words "Never again." are meaningless.

What a powerful post. You are so right about everything you wrote.

Back around 1994 or early 1995, the Serbs were putting Bosnians in camps and they were dying by the hundreds if not thousands. I was decrying this to a group of people outside my law school, particularly that no one of the speakers seemed outraged as the Washington Holocaust Museum was dedicated the day before. The only one who raised his voice, who pointed out what was going on as he spoke in Bosnia was Elie Weisel, a Jew, for the Bosnians, Muslims. After I stopped talking, one of the men there asked me if I was Bosnian.
No, I'm a human being, and so are they! I believed then and still do, never again.

We must speak out against the growing anti=Semitism in the west In the 30s it was promulgated by the right; today it is the liberal/left. Andrew's comment about the holocaust"industry" is obscene. you can just as easily talk about the "anti abortion industry" merely because one draws attention to evil in an organised way. Pope Pius XII is honoured by our Jewish friends as did try to help them in difficult circumstances. We should not denigrate him even if he did lack the moral strength of Churchill. The Soviet government did not "promulgate the story of the gas chambers. It is promulgated by us all including all the poples from Pius XII to Benedict XVI, and rightly so. In case there is any moral doubt. I will assert that this site accepts the holocaust as fact and condemns it and challenge any reader here to deny what the church has accepted since the 1940s. The church condemns a the holocaust; and yes, it also condemns abortion and capital punishment. I challenge Mr England to ban holocaust deniers and other neo-nazis. We all know that some even in the RC church these people exist. The ITP upheld the odious views which went back to the Action Francais. I expect no-one will rise to my challenge. If numbers don't matter, we do indeed reject and made known the holocaust. Incidentally, I have know holocaust survivors one of whol I now a conservative minded catholic.

I agree entirely with everything Robert has written. There are important issues being discussed on this blog and views being put forward. The last thing we want it is people dismissing these views by saying that we are just a bunch of holocaust deniers and other extremists. It is ironic that Hitler's nihilist doctrine promoted the culture of death which has now reappeared with the abortion industry etc. The main opposition to this culture of death is the Catholic Church. And yet there appear to be people claiming to be orthodox Catholics who would deny where all this came from.

Robert, Does the church "condemn abortion" or is it running a "prolife industry" which needs abortion to function? Every time we get near to passing a prolife bill, a dolly the dolphin bishop spikes it. Latest is when pain capable unborn child protection act was due to be voted on in USHR on Jan 22, Cardinal Dolan on 1/21 said it was 'presposterous' for a Catholic to be able to vote for the bill.

"His comments echo the concerns of a vocal group of state and local pro-life organizations who have united to form the Personhood Alliance. ..Instead of supporting the Pain Capable Abortion “Ban” the Personhood Alliance is urging its members to get behind the Sanctity of Human Life Act. Nicolas and Robert are getting rather predictably pious, tag-teaming again in insisting upon recognizing the Nazi Holocaust above all other holocausts. Nicolas even suggests that the "nihilist doctrine" of genocide "came from" Hitler; he is apparently unaware of the Armenian genocide which pre-dated Hitler by two decades (for starters). Interesting that Robert uses the phrase "Holocaust Industry": apparently he is unaware of the book entitled same, written by Norman Finkelstein, the son of concentration camp survivors. In spite of this inconvenient fact, I'm certain Robert in all his "RC" piousness would not hesitate label Mr. Finkelstein a "holocaust denier", and no doubt Nicolas would press the blog host to "ban" Mr. Finkelstein and anyone who read his work.

Nicolas Bellord said...

Kathleen: I am not sure that Robert and I would regard our comments as being examples of piety but thanks for the compliment anyway!

But I do suggest that you read our comments rather more carefully. We did not say that the Nazi holocaust was above all others. However it was rather different from most other historical massacres which were mainly the result of wars, ethnic hatreds, bloodlust etc. Hitler's programme was influenced by certain intellectual trends arising at the end of the 19th century onwards namely eugenics coupled with perverted versions of Darwinism and Nietzche. Anti-Semitism was a very large part of it together with ideas from the medical profession about lives that were not worth living. It was not ignorant or primitive men that did this but people in a supposedly highly cultured civilised country uncomfortably close to us. Unlike say the Armenian massacres which have left no intellectual legacy the ideas behind the Nazi holocaust are still with us and have reappeared in various forms: contraception and abortion, euthanasia and only yesterday our Parliament took one further step down the road towards designer babies quietly ignoring the destruction of tiny human beings who are just flushed down the sink in the process. That is why the Nazi holocaust is particularly relevant to us to-day. It was based on a mix of perverse ideas but without anti-Semitism it would not have had the traction it did. And those ideas were not peculiar to Germany - there was anti-Semitism in many countries - particularly shameful amongst French Catholics - eugenics and perverted Darwinism were widespread.

You mention the phrase "holocaust industry". This is a phrase used by holocaust deniers who pretend there is a group of people who invented the story that the holocaust took place when it did not in their view. The evidence against this is so overwhelming that nobody can deny it. When I was in the TA in the fifties I used to drive Brigadier Williams who had been Montgomery's chief Intelligence Officer and he told me all about what he had discovered at Belsen.

To-day we see a resurgence of these perverted ideas and as I have said Anti-Semitism gave traction to their propagation. Thus I think it very important not to allow people to propagate Anti-Semitism particularly on a Catholic blog when we have so much to answer for. Yes that would be censorship but would it be acceptable to have Charlie Hebdo's cartoons regularly posted on a Catholic blog?

"I have never been so upset by a poll in my life. Only 22% of Americans now believe "the movie and television industries are pretty much run by Jews," down from nearly 50% in 1964. The Anti-Defamation League, which released the poll results last month, sees in these numbers a victory against stereotyping. Actually, it just shows how dumb America has gotten. Jews totally run Hollywood.

"How deeply Jewish is Hollywood? When the studio chiefs took out a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago to demand that the Screen Actors Guild settle its contract, the open letter was signed by: News Corp. President Peter Chernin (Jewish), Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey (Jewish), Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger (Jewish), Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton (surprise, Dutch Jew), Warner Bros. Chairman Barry Meyer (Jewish), CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves (so Jewish his great uncle was the first prime minister of Israel), MGM Chairman Harry Sloan (Jewish) and NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker (mega-Jewish). If either of the Weinstein brothers had signed, this group would have not only the power to shut down all film production but to form a minyan with enough Fiji water on hand to fill a mikvah....
As a proud Jew, I want America to know about our accomplishment. Yes, we control Hollywood. Without us, you'd be flipping between "The 700 Club" and "Davey and Goliath" on TV all day. ...
The ADL poll, he pointed out, showed that 59% of Americans think Hollywood execs "do not share the religious and moral values of most Americans," and 43% think the entertainment industry is waging an organized campaign to "weaken the influence of religious values in this country."

If Hollywood were to be run by Jews and it was well run, all to the good. In fact , it would be good if Jews did run it. Actually the post is deeply offensive. Jesus was a Jew and St Paul reminds us that Christians are grafted on to the people of God so that there is now "no Jew or gentile." The church stands shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish people. I just got my CUFI (Christians United for Israel)"The Torch" Winter 2015 issue. "Outraged" was one of the articles:
"I recently attended a local leadership dinner organized by the Jewish community in my city. I arrived at the exact moment a number of people were crowding near a distinguished looking gentleman who had also just entered the room. His white collar and black shirt made him easily identifiable as a Christian leader, and I was quickly ushered over to him and introduced as, “Pastor Victor – with Christians United For Israel.” His right eyebrow arched as he reluctantly shook my outstretched hand and responded with a one-syllable response, “Oh.”

I had just met one of the Christian world’s most ardent replacement theologians — one who believe the Jews are occupiers of the land of Israel – not the “inheritors” of the land of Israel
The dinner began, and thankfully I had a mouth stuffed full of humus when the reverend announced:

“I just got back from a trip to Israel, and I can’t believe how poorly we were treated by the Israelis. You’d think they would be smart enough not to bite the hand that feeds them,” he sniffed.

My table-mates simply nodded their heads and seemed afraid to confront the awkward accusation of their guest and I dove into my dinner to calm myself down.

He continued, “I was with Monsignor “McKenzie” at the Ben Gurion Airport – and can you believe it? The Jews profiled him. They made [the] Monsignor go through the interviews and baggage check like everyone else!”

“Are you kiddin’ me?” I thought. Everybody gets checked out at the Ben Gurion Airport. They’d question Moses if he came through:

“Sir, what are these…tablets? Were they a gift? Did you pack them yourself?”

The self-appointed, anti-Israel pontificator at our table continued to preach.

“You know the problem with peace in the Middle East?”

I couldn’t wait to hear.

“The Jews just don’t want peace badly enough!” he loudly sneered.

Apparently these Christians and Jews will even unite with atheists and secularists to further their aims (this article was also in the magazine):

"Over the past few days, two separate leaflets signed by Islamic State threatened to target Palestinian poets and writers for their "wantonness" and "atheism." The leaflets mention the poets and writers by name -- a move that created panic among many Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The leaflets also included an ultimatum to Palestinian women to abide by Islamic attire or face the Islamic State style of punishment -- presumably being stoned to death. The threat leaves one with the false impression that, under Hamas, women can wear swimming suits at the beach and walk around the streets of Gaza City in mini-skirts.
