Having dealt so speedily with Bishop Finn of Kansas City, the latest Bishop to fall mysteriously under a bus during the Francis papacy, I imagine that faithful Catholics will be hoping that His Holiness has 'a word in your ear' with Archbishop Cupich for giving Holy Communion to a public non-Catholic and will also be hoping that His Holiness will be lending his considerable papal authority in support of the under-fire 'a bit too Catholic for San Francisco', Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone. Of course, we shouldn't imagine that the Successor of St Peter is some kind of CEO of a multinational corporation or some kind of 'NGO', but there are times when some people could be forgiven for that misconception.
May the soul of Cardinal Francis George, through the mercy of God and with the assistance of the prayers of the Our Blessed Lady and all the Saints and Martyrs rest in peace. His questions, for us, still remain unanswered. The more time goes on, the more mysterious and arbitrary appear the decisions in Rome about who is in, and who is out, who stays and who simply has to go. I'm sure Pope Benedict XVI said some very perceptive and wise things about justice when he gave an address at the German parliament. Mild mercy and swift justice, like 'the Spirit, blows where it wills' at the moment.
Pray for the Pope, for all faithful Bishops and for all Bishops and Cardinals that true justice and true mercy will both be and be seen to be proclaimed in Holy Mother Church.
Perhaps not so 'mysterious and arbitrary', but in line with the modernist policy of demolishing the Catholicity in the Church. (there's an oxymoron)
ReplyDeleteMind you, the frenetic pace with which the VII cultists of anti-Catholicism try to keep imposing their cult of man shows their desperation. Perhaps when that desperation turns into nervous collapse they will lift a humbled little hand and ask Tradition to restore them to Catholic health. (But if the satanic pride of life is too great still, possibly not.)

When he was still called Fr Ratzinger he wrote this: '[Gaudium et Spes (VII) presents] a colourless doctrine of freedom, based upon an unhistorical reading of Scripture, but also, an unhistorical and therefore, unreal view of man which cannont, therefore, stand up to theological or philosophical criticism...When the document speaks of human freedom it falls into downright pelagian terminology.'
(Pelagianism (proper, not Bergoglio's bizarre application) is the heresy that man is his own saviour, not needing Divine grace because man is good enough in an of himself.)

I took the occasion to visit the hyper-link you had included to The Catholic Herald article on Cardinal Francis George (requiescat in pace) and was struck by Cardinal George’s puzzlement regarding why Francis frequently references Monsignor Robert Hugh Benson’s apocalyptic work, “The Lord of the World”, a puzzlement I too share.
ReplyDeleteI personally am concerned deeply about Francis’ constant references to “The God of Surprises”, and how literally, and not just metaphorically, he anticipates that god’s arrival on the world scene. Much like the Muslims anticipate the ¡Vaya lío! the 12th Imam will usher in.
I recall Mark 13:22:
“For there will rise up false Christs and false prophets, and they shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce (if it were possible) even the elect.”
‘Signs’ and ‘wonders’ to seduce even the elect. To my knowledge we haven’t seen any displays of ‘signs’ and ‘wonders’ yet but Christ said there would be and were there any such visible now (say in response to a ‘humble prayer’) then I fear the credulous would be hooked and subscribe to whatever tosh was being shovelled.
2:Thessalonians 2:8-10 says:
“Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved…”
Again ‘signs’ and ‘false wonders’, happenings we have not yet experienced but by which we will all have our Faith tested.
The god of Surprises may produce ‘signs’ and ‘false wonders’ for the world even as in Exodus 7:10-12:
“So Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh, and thus they did just as the LORD had commanded; and Aaron threw his staff down before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts. For each one threw down his staff and they turned into serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs…”

ReplyDelete@Liam. 'Signs and wonders'. Bergoglio has been on the cover of Time, Newsweek, the New Yorker, the Advocate etc. All he has to do is put on a clown nose and he is called 'the superman pope'. If that's not some sort of sign, I wonder what is.

ReplyDeleteSigns and wonders at his bidding I think is the distinction I wished to draw otherwise I'd have mentioned the lightning strike on the Vatican, the earthquake at Castel Gandolfo, the Ravens ravaging the Doves, etc. Signs are more often a function of discernment. I had an uncle who used to extract a 5 p. coin from behind my ear to my amazement when I was a child.
No, I meant preternatural or supernaturally appearing wonders, i.e. fire falling from the sky, etc.
The covers of Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, et. al. are hardly the sort of works that Pharaoh's magicians were able to produce through the assistance of the Evil One.
He does in St.Peter's he put on a clown nose, he did many things, there's a wall pic with him as superman, ehm, sorry, pope (?) have a look at the pics on youtube, you'll enjoy with many of them, he just missed the Nobel prize for peace, but, who knows it, in next december....

ReplyDeleteRe the 'wider problem' I recently learned that Paul VI created a whole new sort of magisterium, a magisterium which gives itself the right to oppose the Universal Ordinary Magisterium. In 1966, when speaking of why one should obey the pastoral VII, he said because it belongs to the 'ordinary and truly authentic magisterium which must be accepted, not in faith, but with facility and sincerity'. This 'universal authentic magisterium' was imposed upon the faithful in updated (from Trent) profession of Faith under JPII in 1989. 'I also adhere with religious submission of will and intellect to the teachings which either the Roman Pontiff or the 'college of Bishops'(a VII novelty) annunciate when they exercise their authentic magisterium even if they do not intend to proclaim these teachings by definitive act.'
