  2. Holding hands during the Our Father is like children's liturgy for adults.

  3. 'Children's liturgy for adults' - very well put! I remember two or three years ago at one of the International Masses in Lourdes celebrated by an Italian Archbishop the look on the faces of a group of teenagers and young adults who were told to troop up to surround the altar and hold hands during the Our Father. I thought they all looked extremely embarrassed and couldn't get away fast enough.

During the 1960s I remember the children of the parish being invited round the altar during the Consecration and at the time thought this was beautiful to see - but they were young children not young adults.

I wonder when and where the holding hands at the Pater Noster originated. I don't somehow think it would have been in England! and as for the congregation copying the Priest in the orens (orans?) position I can never get the 'beach ball' vision out of my head!

  4. I rather suspect they were instructed to do it to make a good picture. They look mighty embarrassed. May God Bless their marriages.

The liberal spin doctors will be working overtime in the run up to the family synod.

  6. And what do you expect form the anti pope and the destroyer of the Church? That is just the beginning... Brace yourself for much more worse...

  7. John Russell Finch, how so? Please elaborate and substantiate.

  8. Holding Hands at the Our Father especially at St Peter's is strictly forbidden that is the result of the so called Francis Effect. Not that the Pope encouraged this but this is like the small minded GIRM rules don't matter. How WE Pray is How WE Believe.

  9. The "Our Father" is a PRAYER, why aren't their hands clasped and their heads bowed like we do for any other prayer?

  11. Yeah the true scandal is that many were cohabiting. The new Church of nice---no need for repentance, or separating until the marriage sacrament.

  12. Exactly Seattle Kim! Holding hands during the Our Father is the LEAST of the problem. The REAL PROBLEM is how these couples were counseled and 'reconciled' via CONFESSION!!! NO MENTION OF THIS AT ALL IN ANY ARTICLE ON THE WEB I'VE YET READ. Now.....that part is INDEED scandal!!
