Wedding Playlist

I'm working on the music for the wedding.

If it was in the Novus Ordo, I suppose we could have had the above in the Mass but due to the rigorous restrictions imposed upon the form and setting of liturgical music in the Extraordinary Form, I guess it will just have to be played at the reception afterwards instead.

Shame. It could have been a themed Mass and everything.

I just bought the suit. I'm surprised. I look quite employable when I make an effort.
Getting rather tetchy now.

On a much more serious note, I ask all readers to pray for our brother in Christ,

  1. I play the organ and piano and cantor in a relatively conservative (at least for now with the current priest) Novus Ordo parish.
Here's the playlist I offer each prospective couple.

Prelude: Musician plays 20 minutes of light classical music.

Suggestions for Procession of mothers, bridesmaids, and bride.

    Air from Water Music ----Handel
    Air on G string---------Bach
    Ave Verum Corpus--Mozart
    Canon in D----------Pachelbel
    Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring--Bach
    Laudate Dominum-----Mozart
    Sheep May Safely Graze--Bach
    Trumpet Voluntary-----Purcell
    Meditation from Thais---
    Massenet
    Bridal Chorus----Wagner

    Psalm---choose a psalm
and the musician will find a musical setting for it.

Offertory--any song from the missal or the Franck Panis Angelicus or another sacred selection.

Comm Hymn---any song from the missal or a sacred solo. If the wedding is large, I suggest a congregational hymn from the missal followed by a sacred solo such as Schubert's Ave Maria.

Suggestions for Recessional of the wedding party:

    Rondo--------Mouret
    La Rejouissance--Handel
    Eine Kleine Nachtmusik--Mozart
    Zadok the Priest-----Handel
    Ode to Joy------//Beethoven
    Horn pipe -------Handel
Arrival of the Queen of Sheba--Handel
    Hallelujah Chorus------Handel
    Trumpet Tune-----Purcell
    Wedding March-Mendelssohn

  2. But before the conservative priest came, there was a Beattles wedding (processional-Here Comes the Sun and recessional--All You Need is Love). and also a Twilight wedding with Bella's song played for the bridal entrance.

  3. Weddings always happen in tea halls in my experience. I've never been to a Catholic wedding. I think once I did attend a wedding in a protestant church. All of the above usually shot-gun or with several of the couple's children in attendence.

choices for reception music...um...I wouldn't dare presume upon such an important decision.

p.s. our Lady, refuge of the sick, intercede for Mr Collins and his loved ones; remember, whoever, to ask for a Mass for Mr Collins.
