Cardinal Nichols in Blistering Attack on 'Same-Sex Marriages'

Cardinal Vincent Nichols has issued a blistering attack on the first 'same-sex marriages' in the United Kingdom, lambasting the Government over its attack on the institution of marriage.

His Eminence repeated Bishop Egan's statement on denying Holy Communion to MPs who voted for the move and who vote out of line with Church teaching in words that are said to have Government officials 'nervous'.

'Same-sex marriage' continues to be a deeply divisive subject despite the first 'weddings' taking place only days ago.

The Cardinal said, "Today we stand on the brink of a disaster in our understanding of marriage and family life. We now, as Catholics, inhabit a nation whose Government, drunk on power and taking to itself authority that it could never have, has instituted a diabolical law that will see hundreds and thousands of ordinary people punished for holding to the natural law. Lent is a time for repentance, but now, dear people, is the time to remove this vile law from the statute book. If ever there was a time for the Queen to dissolve Parliament, it is now."

"I urge all people of goodwill to vote for UKIP, since they are the only party that stand against this demonic law. And if you are a Catholic politician that voted for this, all I can say is this: I am warning you now. Do not even think of approaching Holy Communion. It would be better for your souls, if you stayed away until you have publicly recanted and repented of your betrayal of the Holy Faith!"

  4. I'm deeply depressed. I was on such a high when reading paragraphs one and two - then the penny dropped. Coming down from the high - back to reality - is so painful.

You got me good and proper. Good one.

  5. I hard a really hilarious April Fools hoax today. Apparently people are joking about passing legislation allowing men to marry other men, and women to marry other man, just as if it were a real marriage (you know, the sort where Mummy and Daddy fall in love and have babies).

I suppose it's a bit too obviously a silly joke, but it seems to have fooled some people in the Brighton area.

  8. It is a measure of how far we have come in the business of being 'nuanced' and 'not knowing what is down the road' that we can laugh at the very idea of a Cardinal fearlessly teaching Catholic beliefs. God, help us.
