Spot the Difference II

I had not realised that His Holiness Pope Francis does not genuflect at the consecration and gives a simple bow of reverence to Our Lord.

At 1 hour and 46 minutes, you can see His Holiness consecrating the bread and the wine so that they become the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

I can only imagine that Pope Francis has a leg or knee condition that inhibits his movement and that kneeling or genuflecting towards the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar is a problem for him.
Above is footage of Holy Mass celebrated by Blessed Pope John Paul II in 1998.

Blessed Pope John Paul II genuflects for the consecration at 3 minutes and 35 seconds.

Below is also footage of Pope Benedict XVI celebrating Holy Mass, who genuflects for the consecration at 4 minutes and 45 seconds.

Here below is Archbishop Vincent Nichols, genuflecting at the consecration, during His Grace's celebration of Holy Mass at Westminster Cathedral at 1 hour and 4 minutes.

Pray that whatever knee problems the Holy Father is currently experiencing may be healed by the tenderness of Our Blessed Lord.

  2. He is a very unusual Pope. He doesn't sing, doesn't genuflect, doesn't do foreign languages(his Easter Urbi et Orbi was pretty flat), does very little Latin, doesn't kneel for the Corpus Christi Procession, doesn't live in the Apostolic Palace....Surely, if he didn't want to serve as pope he could have let the cardinals know!
