No rubric was broken since the rubrics do not forbid females having their feet washed. The rubric is descriptive not prescriptive, it simply states that the 'selected men' are led to their seats then those who are to have their feet washed remove their shoes/socks etc.
It is widely acknowledged that the CDW have advised numerous permission to diocesan bishops that it is ok to include women in this sacramental rite. Who would the pope have asked for 'permission' - his own curial department? Francis has not broken any rubrics, he has used his pastoral judgment which he is perfectly at liberty to do.
STOP-PRESS: Marini I had a private audience with Francis today. Word is out that he will be next Head of the CDW!
But it is humble and compassionate to allow people to kill their children! It is a poor church for the poor! You know how "the poor" need to abort and contracept - how else can they continue on as before and remain poor?

ReplyDeleteNot sure the red shoes were in the rubrics....?
ReplyDeleteMy question yesterday is genuine. I don`t see the connection.
ReplyDeleteBTW - the pope wears black orthopaedic shoes, I'm sure they don't come in red
ReplyDeleteThat God is so furious with the breaking of liturgical norms that WWIII will soon follow them as punishment.
ReplyDeleteIt is a joke post.
Thank you, Lawrence. As a (50%) scouser, I can usually see a joke.
