In answer to the question "where is the freestanding altar?" Maybe the Pope Emeritus has decided to have it removed and replaced with what appears to be a high-altar. This is the first time I had ever seen the inside chapel here, and as you may also notice the Crucifix was covered up with a Purple drape. He is staying here until may and maybe when he leaves in May, Pope Francis can come and change it back,who knows

While I'm sure Pope Francis will be a good leader of the Catholic church at this point in time, Benedict will always be my Pope. God bless both of them.
