Well, the poll on my sidebar suggests that of my readership who took part in the poll, the vote is split pretty evenly between supporting Israelis, Palestinians and those praying for peace in the region.
Personally, call me partisan, but I have a particular loyalty towards the Christians who apparently are fleeing the whole region of the Middle East in droves under persecution from just about everyone else. Everyone seems to forget about them, as I clearly did by not mentioning them in my poll.
If anyone wants to buy me a Christmas present, you can put me down for Christianophobia, a new book charting the plight of the most oppressed and persecuted religion on the face of the Earth. Pray for peace in the Middle East.

ReplyDeleteDon't be put off by the names of the reviewers. Rupert Shorrt's book is very sound. It tells a story all should hear. I'm just back from an Aid to the Need piligrimage to the Holy Land and spent much of the time on the West Bank witnessing the dreadful impact what the Wall of Separation on people's lives. Pray for the Christians of Palestine.

ReplyDeleteMr Dyson, I'm afraid you're misinformed. When I was in Bethlehem recently I witnessed the funeral of a young Christian man who died because he could not get permission to travel to Jerusalem - through the wal of separation - for medical treatment, although his local Greek Orthodox parish had raised money for this purpose. On the whole Palestinian Christians live peacefully with their muslim neighbours. The picture is not so bright in other lands but you should not fool yourself that Israel is entirely benign in its treatment of Christians in Israel or the occupied territories.
