Why Can't We Put Our Politicians on Trial?


Hosni Mubarak has appeared for trial in Egypt. Here we don't do trials. We do 'inquiries'...

    You forget that we were one of the first countries to put a ruler on trial. Parliament tried Charles I and then chopped his head off. Eventually, however, they came (briefly) to their senses and invited his son back.
