Archbishop Calls for Arrest of Koran Burning Pastor

Extreme measures recommended in extreme circumstances by Archbishop Lawrence Saldanha of Lahore, Pakistan.

'Speaking from Lahore in an interview with Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need, Archbishop Saldanha said: “The US government should detain the pastor for some time.
“In view of the effects his actions have had all over the world, he should be controlled and understand the harm that has been done.”
Archbishop Saldanha, who is president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Lahore, went on: “The US government talks about religious freedom – but we call upon the US government to prevent such actions by extremists and other fundamentalist Christians.”

The Catholic Herald reports on the the dire consequences of the nutjob US pastor...

'Since the Koran burning took place at the Dove World Outreach Centre in Florida on March 20, protests have been held in many parts of the Muslim world. In Afghanistan, an attack on a UN base on Friday in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif killed 14 people, seven of them US staff. The next day at least 10 people were killed in the southern city of Kandahar. Meanwhile, protests have taken place across Pakistan and the Koran-burning has been linked to attacks on three churches across the country, which is home to 2.5 million Christians.'

As if Christians weren't finding it hard enough in Islamic countries already! What a mentalist! Koran kissing Popes may not be everyone's cup of tea, but at least such actions show a little religious respect and help to sow peace, rather than hatred and emnity. 1. A pity the bishops didn't speak out when madman Bliar and his friend Blush rained shock and awe on millions in the Middle East, not caring whether they were Christian or not - the only bishop in this country who spoke out with the pope was Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue.

Why is Bliar still roaming the streets free under the guise of being a Catholic 'peacekeeper'?

There is no comparison between the response to this mad pastor's actions and the mayhem unleashed in the last couple of decades.

Put Blair and the pastor into a Guantanamo cage with all the other masters of death and destruction who claim to be doing it in the name of religion, e.g. the Baptist minister who is also an abortionist doctor.

  2. I'm not sure the counter-example of kissing a Koran is all that helpful here. It's not like we've all got a straight choice between either kissing it or burning it. Seems to me that it would be perfectly appropriate to do neither...
