The morning before the Falconer bill was discussed in the House of Lords, this country was battered by around 3500 lightning strikes. More or less ten minutes after the bill was debated and sent to its second reading, lightning began pounding the South of England once more. This is set to continue over the weekend...
Lord, if there is anything in this bill that in any way displeases you, give us a sign. Any kind of sign, Lord, that you are against the breaking of the commandment not to kill, even the highly emotive "difficult cases" in which people are begging health professionals and others to kill them.
O for the wisdom of previous generations who fell to their knees...

We don't need a sign. We have been given reason, a conscience informed by the natural moral law, and the unchanging doctrine of the Faith. Yes, we are not getting the leadership in Faith and morals from the pope, many bishops and priests, that we ought to be getting. We have been generally abandoned by our Church leaders. But we know the unchanging law of God, and the doctrine of the Faith. Evil will always be evil no matter how many people outside the Church, insist otherwise, to the point of purporting to provide for the commission of intrinsic evil in the civil law, no matter how many bishops or priests cooperate with, condone, or acquiesce to evil. We must not allow the scandal to corrupt us. Pray for constant protection against the perversion of one's reason and fidelity to Our Lord and the Holy Faith.

The man with two brains -- just give me a sign
Well if the lightening on parliament today is an omen against this legislation then the lightening on ST Peter's dome must be a clear indictment of Benedict's papacy!!!???
It was 3,500 strikes in a three-hour period of the early morning... In total, over the whole of Thursday night/Friday morning, there were actually around 13,000 strikes...
As always, I agree with Lynda.
+ Mark O'Toole of Plymouth and + Philip Egan of Portsmouth published excellent pastoral letters on this topic and so I believe did + Mark Davies.
The only quibble I had was that it all came at the last minute. I emailed the Bishop of Plymouth's office and they replied that they themselves had rather late advice on this. I do feel that there was plenty of warning. It was well known when the debate was going to be held. However, I can't criticise too much because I hesitated to react before the Bishop's letter. I needed a wake up call aka a kick in the pants.
On 'Question Time' on Friday a supporter of killing old and/or sick people said, without a trace of irony, or the least murmer from the audience, '....those who administer the MEDICATION...'. I shall look for the new definition of 'medication' with interest but no surprise - 'Something intended to kill painlessly' perhaps. I don't think that even Goebbels tried that one?
Where is Dr. Harold Shipman when you need his expertise? At least we still have the counter-signatories to his many death certificates which should provide great confidence in the 'two medical signatories' safeguard proposed and which also works so well in the matter of abortion, which are (as we know) frequently refused if requested on trivial grounds.
Now, now. Let's be careful not to drift towards paganism.
Lighting is caused by the charge difference created by hail between the bottom and tops of cumulus cloud. Quite simple really.
The greater the temperature difference, and the extent of the area, the more lightening we get. Recent strong movement of warm arm from African, not unusual at this time of the year have caused this.
These 'Lords' are part of the Freemason establishment who control the daily lives of millions of people through the banking system, government and judiciary.
These are the same individuals who are behind the greatest paedophile ring in British history.
Mr Bones, you don't need any signs because these are the people who prevent decent people like you and millions from earning a decent wage. These are the people who speak a beautiful language full of lies. These are the Devil's marketeers.
What these 'Lords' have got in common with the other 'Lords' around the world? They belong to the same Club that is under the Leadership of Satan. To give you an example. At the beginning of July in Calabria, Sicily, during a procession of Our Lady, the bearers of the statue of Our Lady stopped in front of the house of a mafia boss and and bent the Virgin's statue in tribute to him. At least 25 people carrying the statue were involved in this deplorable act.
Pope Francis visited Calabria only 15 days before this horrible incident happened. In his homily he said :
'“Those who in their lives follow this path of evil, as mafiosi do, are not in communion with God and thus "they are excommunicated”.
I think the Pope has been very active and preached against evil since he was elected. The Pope will be worry about this latest development by the Masons.
So far 3 European countries, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg commit crimes against humanity because they breach the 5th commandment: You shall not kill.
The question is how many more countries will follow these inhuman politicians?
Where are the Bishops?... Silence.....
Only one courageous Bishop, the Bishop of Portsmouth has been very outspoken about the strategy used by the politicians. Bishop Egan was against the homosexual marriage and was not afraid to criticize it! But the rest?.....Silence...
As Cardinal Ratzinger highlighted once, the church will have to become small and start afresh.
Lets pray for Pope Francis, that he will have the courage to cleanse the Vatican and the church from all evil.
Lets pray for the Bishops, that they will have the courage to fight for the faith.
Lets ask the Saints and St Michael for their intercessions and Our Lady because the devil lost the battle!

Pope Francis cleanse the Church of evil? That's a good one. He's had absolutely nothing to say about Belgium's euthanasia for children and France's gay marriage legalization.
But I suppose miracles can happen and Freemason Francis could change.

Yes, compare the list of things he ignores or does not "obsess" about with those he gives his time and attention to. All is inverted.
As Kristin LA said, 'People are adept at studiously ignoring signs.' Just like the distorted crucifix dedicated to jpii killing that young man who lived of johnxxiii street - and the lightning strikes at the actual event a couple days later. Just like the fire in the Holy Sepulchre after Bergoglio's visit. And just like the elimintation of Ancient Christian communities before the dust has settled on false religions being invited to worship thier devils in the vatican gardens. And just like a formerly Catholic country promoting another of the sins that cry out to heaven for vengeance.
but we are the sophisticated 'coincidence' age where meaning and signs are reserved for peasants and 'pelagians'.
Yes yes Viterbo---some conincidences are more likely Godcidences than we realize.
"Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the Falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?" W. B. Yeats 'The Second Coming'
More signs: Francis invites representatives of 2 heathen sects to pray in the Vatican----fighting ensues in Palestine. Francis embraces a Protestant wannabe bishop as his "brother bishop" and he dies in accident. God is not mocked.
Did not Christ say it is only a wicked and faithless generation that looks for signs?
He did, but 33,000 lightning strikes in one day? Come on!
@Savonorola: are you implying we are not a wicked generation? Because I would have to disagree with you there. The wicked are stupid, we need signs, I'm happy enough to be called wicked so long as the signs don't go by the wayside, which, to date, they are.
p.s. remember that the Virgin birth was also a sign. So they need not always be doomladen.
Viterbo, I doubt whether this generation is any more wicked or faithless than every previous one. What I find interesting is how selective we are in which sayings of Christ we choose to follow with literal exactness and which ones we choose to sit lightly to.
By the way, the Gospel says an evil and adulterous generation 'demands' a sign.
There is a world of difference between 'demanding' a sign and 'discernment' of a sign, i.e. the fig tree.
The signs are all there for those who prayerfully and humbly try to discern them.
@Liam, true enough - those who have ears to hear.
@Savonarola; surely not all generations are not equal in wickedness, just like all individuals are not equal in their indifference to their own immortal soul. I would place a hefty bet that my grandmother's generation had more concern for their immortal souls than mine, who, by and large, are too 'sophisticated' for such peasantish things as immortal souls = more wicked than my grandmothers generation.
@viterbo,
In reference to the respective 'evils' of generations gone by or lack thereof, I often wonder if past generations might similarly succumb to the severe temptations to which this current generation has been exposed.
I wonder too (since Modernist heresy, wars and other calamities such as stock market crashes, Spanish influenza, etc. are divine punishments for sin) whether we are a bit too near-sighted in attributing a pervasive religiosity to past generations.
Just thinking, that's all.
@Liam, I guess the way I see it, is that God is Righteous, and perfect justice. Therefore if we are being fed stones rather than bread, it's not because we are as deserving of bread rather than stones as our Grandparents were. That said, it was taught that the 'sins of the fathers', were passed down for up to four generations (but this is about the soul of a generation, not individuals) - and to be sure, half the people who suffer the consequences of grave evil in this world are not the flag waving generators of it. Still, in 2000 years the 20th and 21st centuries are the most adept at perpetrating the four sins that cry out to heaven for vengeance - the most murderous and Christ-hating since the Incarnation and yet the world and the Novus Ordo heirarchy herald these generations as enlightened and socially just and good - therefore, to me, this is a declaration that these generations prefer our 'fathers' to give us stones rather than bread. Perhaps God, permitting this preference, goes, well, alright then. Still, at an individual level if we cleave to Truth, we will continue to recieve bread and not stones.
