Old one was a bit traditional and rigid, it mentioned the Holy Name of Jesus and stuff.

New one is very in-keeping with the Superior General's view of things.

Re-Interpreting Jesus and the Order Formerly Known as His Society

We can in a sense be grateful to the Superior General of the Society of Jesus for bringing our attention to the true source and origin of the current crisis in the Church. The crisis concerns, of course, the Person of Jesus Christ and how He is thus viewed or 'interpreted', what Faith in Him means, or whether it really means anything at all.

Naturally, the only disagreement I would have with the Superior General would be that I would call this desire to 're-interpret Jesus' an expression of this crisis, where he would see no crisis, but only 'renewal'.

Making our image of Christ depend entirely on the whim of whoever is sitting on the Chair of Peter, or those who surround the Chair, or simply an image from our own imagination, or of those who have the Pope's ear is, in my opinion, completely unnecessary and utterly mad. One need not exercise one's grey matter too much to 'discern' that when a Jesuit says it is time to 're-interpret' Jesus, His words and His teachings, it is most likely time to discard his true teachings and replace them with his own novel ideas. These ideas will, most likely, lead to a dramatic decrease in emphasis on Our Lord's divinity and a sudden spike in emphasis on His humanity to the detriment of His divinity. I'm sure there's a good graph one could do for this to illustrate what happens as it does, in an exponential manner in our ratio.

A helpful Jesuit re-interpretation device...

Nevertheless, the 're-interpreters' are on incredibly shaky ground, since those who refuse to build their house on Rock - the Rock that is Christ - will be constrained to build their house on sand. One wonders what an electronic Jesuit interpretation machine would produce, should it be built. If I were to speak into it some words of Our Lord such as...

'And Jesus said to him: I am. And you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God, and coming with the clouds of heaven.'

...we can assume that the Jesuit re-interpretation would exit our machine as follows...

'And Jesus said to him: I am among a host of wise men from ages gone, but you shall see a Marxist blueprint for society in nearly all of my sayings. And whatever I say about human sexuality and marriage: let's just forget that, eh? No? The 'eh' and the 'no' is important because it reminds us that Our Lord comes from Buenos Aires...for now. Basically, Lucifer was right about nearly everything.'

Or something such like. We can be more or less certain that the 're-interpretation' of Christ and His Teachings follow a similar path from clear and forthright teachings rubber-stamped 'absolute truth for your Eternal Salvation' to a mixture of wise sayings and heavily edited epithets that make the Gospel incredibly easy for modern man, that refuse to confront man about his reality and the reality of God's existence and that render Jesus Christ meaningless and irrelevant to all who may hear His Holy Name or read His Words. Indeed, as the Holy See is transformed from the fearless proclaimer of Catholic Truth to a subservient 'Ministry of Truth' for the worldly powers foreseen in 1984, we can expect precisely this method of sending the True Christ out to the peripheries and a false Christ being invited in, if, indeed, he hasn't already entered.

Do I have this right? Christ's teachings on marriage and sexuality would eventually be rendered completely acceptable to contemporary man, Hell's existence, even Heaven's existence will be reduced to philosophical ideas. I think we know the score. Christ's words on even the Eucharist, the very words of institution which provide His children with His Most Sacred Body and Most Precious Blood can be 're-interpreted', His Blood no longer poured out for the forgiveness of sins but a 'healing remedy' for the unification and brotherhood of Christian churches and religions?

Probably a Protestant meme, but pretty accurate of our friendly Jesuit work of 're-interpretation'...

However, for those who are concerned about all of this, take a grain of consolation from the fact that if Jesus Christ, the Lord Almighty can be subject to such blasphemous 're-interpretation' then mere men, Jesuits such as Fr Arturo Sosa S.J, His Holiness Pope Francis (not Persons of the Most Holy Trinity) are fair game. I look forward to those years in the future, should God grant us them, when Pope Francis and the Superior General of the Jesuits (though such figures as Jesuit Superior Generals can be so easily ignored) have their words and authoritative statements) subject to such a 're-interpretation' that they no longer mean what they intended them to mean. One can imagine future clergy, bishops and laity sitting around talking about those words of Pope Francis, or a future Pope entrusted with his 're-interpretation' for contemporary man.

So when Pope Francis said things like...

'People who follow the Ten Commandments rigidly are in some way sick/psychologically flawed'...

'...what he intended to say - in fact what he meant - was...

'...the Ten Commandments were given by God to be followed by mankind without exception and that those who break these grievously offend against these Commandments and die in unrepentant mortal sin will be cast into the everlasting fiery torments of Hell.'

If Christ the Second Person of the Trinity can be 're-interpreted' for modern man, then so can Pope Francis, right? If 're-interpreting Christ Who is the Lord' can be achieved so easily, then 're-interpreting Pope Francis' for Catholics should be a pushover. After all, if we can do this for Christ, whose words are 'recorded' from when He spoke in the past, the words of Pope Francis which are 'recorded' from when he spoke in the past can be made to mean the complete opposite of what the words recorded actually say. Perhaps one day a Pope will have to do that. That'll be messy, but it will also be necessary.

Let's not hear any protestations from the Jesuits when/if that happens. After all, if God's Word can be subject to such a radical interpretation, then so can those of this Pope who will one day belong to the past. Besides, it isn't as if Pope Francis is / can be more authoritative than Almighty God, is it? That would simply be illogical. We'll need to borrow that Jesuit 'interpretation' device and turn it into something a little/lot more orthodox, maybe get some Dominicans or some of the FFI to re-wire it but nevertheless, let's not hear any complaints when the words of Pope Francis are made to sound completely, resolutely Catholic and utterly in conformity with both the words of Our Blessed Saviour and the Sacred Tradition of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I can just hear the screams of horror! You can't re-interpret Pope Francis in continuity with His predecessors to render his words and strange doctrines irrelevant??! Is nothing sacred!?? How dare you break the First Commandment of Bergoglio-Church! Infidels! Heretics!

Looks like a tremendous crowd turned out for Our Lady of Fatima today, where His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols consecrated our nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

May God bless His Eminence for doing so. What a wonderful thing to do!

May Our Lady have England once more as her dowry and intercede for us that God may bless and heal our nation and convert it to the One Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Faith.

A Quick Post on Songs, Insults and Rumours

I have three more parody songs circling around my brain but will not, generally speaking, be posting them up on this blog. You can follow my postings on YouTube very easily here and subscribe to my channel should you wish.

Songs are not everybody's cup of tea and I know there is a danger of overkill ("oh no, not another one!") with what is starting to look like a collection of satirical protest songs, as we pray and work for the liberation and exaltation of our Holy Mother the Church and the salvation of souls. By subscribing to my channel you can be informed of new releases at your leisure.

During Lent (which is fast approaching) I'll decrease blogging output considerably (at least, that's the resolution, though who knows what His Holiness might 'make me do'). But I will, God willing, dedicate some serious time to updating the Pope Francis Little Book of Insults, an archiving work of considerable historical value for the Church. His Holiness has, quite bizarrely, been talking about insults and their effect very recently. 

It goes without saying that this painstaking and painful work will be a light Lenten penance for me, as well as an examination of conscience, since I often think so many of these apply to me. I think that is the Holy Father's intention. I see that it has now been translated up to its current point of progress in Italian. It only remains therefore for the work to be translated in Latin.

Events, insults and rumours (talk of a new-new Mass, episcopal sell-out to China, talk of 'new' Catechisms, an '(un)official' response to the dubia with a caveat of plausible deniability for the Pope) the list goes on and on and depressingly on) seem to be gathering at a pace which is unfathomably fast. Certain people in high places in the Church, you and they know very well who they are, are in a great rush to achieve their personal or 'club' goals in building the Church, or the Temple or the Multi-Faith Religious Centre, whatever they think they'd like to call it, that will in no way resemble the Church of Jesus Christ.

However, we must pray very much that events overtake the 'great reformer(s)' who seek to reshape the Church in their own pseudo-religous-humanist image. Unpredictable things have been happening in the world in the last year. We must pray and do what we can to protect the Church and preserve the Faith intact (not only in Portugal!) while wolves seek to devour it and rip it to pieces. Wolves hunt in packs and show no mercy. There is no negotiation with them. No real dialogue. No answer to appeals. Benedict XVI used words very precisely and carefully, in contrast to his successor.

Wolves. 

"Just like me, they long to be, close to you...ahhhh-ahhh-ahhh, close to you..."

Ah yes, he sure got that right! 

But then, he was right about so very much.

I don't know what will be left of the Catholic Church by the time, please God, the SSPX come in ('come on in, the water's fine!) and, quite frankly, I am surprised Bishop Fellay has not by now established a personal ordinariate for those fleeing the emerging Church(es) of Jorge Bergoglio, but this is a testament to the fidelity and humility of the SSPX whose attitude of openness and to 'dialogue' must be commended. Certainly, it will be heroic for the SSPX to make a Normandy beach-landing and do what they can to contribute to the rescue of Christian civilisation in the heart, or even in the peripheries of the Catholic Church. 

With or without dramatic divine intervention in the Church, it will be up to the next generations of Catholics to rebuild what is currently being torn down and demolished in the name of progress. One of the things about the demolition that we are currently, with sorrow, witnessing, is that one is just left unsure whether it is being done out of a desire to unite humanity or just out of pure malice towards Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother. I guess that ultimately, it is a bit of both.

Humanity can only find peace and salvation within the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, born from the pierced Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in Whose loving arms sinners find grace and mercy, the graces necessary to live a new life respecting and loving God's commandments, the resolution to reject the Devil and his empty promises and life everlasting. No other message, however popular it may appear, will be a message faithful to the divine founder of the Catholic Church.

It is a terrible fact that both the Devil and Jesus Christ make claims to our salvation. One if a liar who promises us an easy road to Hell, the other is the Truth, is God Himself, who promises us a road to Heaven which is, though difficult, made sweet by His loving presence in our lives. A great battle is now and will, most likely, continue to rage.

We are in that war. We are combatants in that battle, We are the Church Militant. We fight with Michael, the warrior prince. Christ is Victor, Christ has won, the Devil is already conquered, those who prove victorious will trample upon the wicked who shall be like ashes under the feet of the just. Let us arm ourselves with faith, prayer, penance and the charity which will bring to men the hope that is within us, the Faith of Jesus Christ, the King who will return, the King whom the whole Church must proclaim. In these dark times, may we never lose sight or lose heart in the promises made by Jesus Christ. It will be very easy for us to see, as indeed it is now, the Crucifixion. To see that will require no great faith. It will take a greater faith, in these times, for us to see the Resurrection.

He's Got a Little List (And You're On It)...

Or they spread a YouTube video critiquing the pope and his exhortation on love in the family, “Amoris Laetitia,” which many traditionalists consider Francis’ opening salvo against the doctrine of the church. Set to the music of “That’s Amore,” an aggrieved crooner sings, “When will we all be freed from this cruel tyranny, that’s Amoris” and “It’s the climate of fear engineered for four years, that’s Amoris.”'

Thankfully, anyway, I may have escaped the 'little list', since His Holiness only reads 

La Repubblica.

We know this because he said so.

And his testimony is true.

Because His Holiness is trustworthy.

And anyway, Francis is the Pope of mercy and accompaniment.

Phew, that was a close shave!

Posters are the "Wrong" Way

I would have more sympathy with Cardinal Oullet's view if formal channels such as letters, petitions and even Cardinals' dubia were responded to in a friendly manner, or even responded to at all. Whatever His Eminence thinks of the posters, there are some pertinent facts that should at the highest level of the Vatican be appreciated.

These are, namely that...

Pope Francis has emasculated Congregations.

Pope Francis has decapitated the Order of Malta.

Pope Francis has decapitated the Franciscans of the Immaculate.

Pope Francis has not, as far as I know, personally suspended priests, but one could argue that the attack on the FFI was so catastrophic that priests may just as well have been 'suspended'.  

Pope Francis has ignored Cardinals questions.

Pope Francis has done these things which lead people to question where is the mercy of which he speaks.

What the posters did not say, but could have said, was that Pope Francis was sowing 'division' and 'confusion' within the Church and that division and confusion come from the Devil. Ironically, the posters stuck to objectively discernible facts, albeit in a rhetorical manner, leaving it to a high-level Prefect within the Vatican to point fingers at people calling them 'diabolic'. Really, these posters were fairly charitable and, indeed, quite a bit more charitable than was the response of Cardinal Oullet.

Of course, division does come from the Devil. Truth, however, does not, and the reason that this papacy seems to be so very divisive is because it would appear more and more that truth is this pontificate's main enemy. After four years in which truth has been under grave and serious attack from the highest levels of the Church, it is perhaps understandable that when it is spoken in the streets it is seen as a great threat that comes 'from the enemy'. As others have surmised, the knee-jerk reaction of Cardinal Oullet rather feels like we're moving back to the abuse-crisis days in which calls for fair treatment and a fair hearing of complaints are simply an attack on the institution of the Church, rather than an appeal for transparency and justice where justice has been seen to be denied. The days in which the Pope is seen as an absolute monarch accountable to absolutely nobody were, I thought, meant to be over.

This concept is something that was put to bed by Pope Benedict XVI but has been resurrected by Pope Francis. Sad to see Cardinal Oullet fall into line so quickly. One quote really summarises justifiable reasons for simmering anger in Rome and Cardinal Oullet would do well to read it over one more time. It gives ample evidence of just why Benedict XVI was loved by Romans, Pope St John Paul II was loved by and deeply popular with Romans and why Francis has gone down so badly with Romans.

“And I am the pope, I do not need to give reasons for any of my decisions. I have decided that they have to leave and they have to leave.”

It just sounds so much nicer when it is said thus:

"And I am the servant of the servants of God, I do not need to give reasons for any of my decisions. I have decided that they have to leave and they have to leave."

In the world such an exercise of naked power without a sense of accountability sometimes impresses some people, but really not that many at all, and still fewer if you are on the receiving end of it. In the Church, it just looks rather terrible and frankly, rather terrifying, but hey, I suppose that with a 'boss' like that, Cardinals might well want to say some things that will pacify and soothe someone known to simply 'lose it' when bad decisions make him look bad. In this light, Cardinal Oullet's reaction is somewhat understandable. As things stand, however, my immediate sympathy goes not to the authoritarian individual regularly abusing the papal office to assert his personal will but to those who pay the price for that, and with all possible avenues for appeal exhausted and found ineffective, these posters I can only see as shocking and understandable in equal measure.

If only these things mentioned on the posters were untrue! 

If only these things could be dismissed as absurd and 'diabolic' accusations!
