Pope Francis Opts Out of Corpus Christi Procession

Rome Reports reports that His Holiness skipped the Procession for Corpus Christi in order to save energy for an upcoming apostolic trip to Calabria. Last year, His Holiness broke with his predecessors tradition of kneeling on route in the vehicle carrying the Eucharistic Lord and walked in the Procession instead.

This year, in order to preserve energy, His Holiness omitted the Procession altogether. It would have been nice to have seen His Holiness in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament on Our Lord's route through the streets in the vehicle. Like last year, His Holiness refused the kneeler prepared by his Master of Ceremonies for adoration and incensation of the Blessed Sacrament. There are, it appears, times when liturgy calls for kneeling and times when it does not. So, for instance, it is fitting to kneel at a Charismatic Prayer Conference while being 'prayed over', but not in front of our Eucharistic Lord.

  1. Somebody on a tweet suggested there should be a poole to number the ways in which Francis is a contradiction to the world. I think it would be far easier to list the ways in which he is a contradiction to the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

  2. Interesting point: he can kneel when he wants to. I'd been charitably assuming the poor old guy had arthritis.

  3. Diabolical disorientation. We are in a time of great trial. Pray for strength to endure.

  4. It's not a woman for the mandatum, otherwise he can't kneel

  5. He has been ailing since his return from the Holy Land. Let us show the measure of mercy that Christ showed for us lest our Eucharistic Adoration be invalidated.

  7. @Viterbo - That would be a short list, so it would definitely be easier, you're right. I can't think of one way which Pope Francis is a contradiction to the Catholic Church, so the list would only take about two seconds.

  8. Wow....people are 'freaking out' because the poor guy didn't have it in him to walk the procession. Seriously? Please, the guy is almost 80 and has had some health problems. He has also had a hard time walking according to reports. It is getting to the point that people are so over the top hyper sensitive to every little thing he does that they don't like that it looks ridiculous.

That said, yes I am concerned about some of the things he has said and done. No doubt they are at the very least concerning. Watch and Pray, but it would be nice to have just a little objectivity. A little common sense. This nit picking by traditional Catholics (and I am one) looks ridiculous.
