Pro-Abortion, Pro-Homosexual Marriage Religious Leader Receives Another Honorary Degree from a Catholic University

Not one, but two honorary degrees now for Rabbi Abraham Skorka, received from Catholic Universities. The first, Rabbi Skorka received from the hand of the then Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio from the Pontifical Catholic University in Argentina in October 2012. The video above shows the same Rabbi receiving an honorary degree on October 30th 2013 from Sacred Heart, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA.

Cardinal Bergoglio honours Skorka with honorary degree
I understand that this religious leader is a good friend of Pope Francis, so much so that they are rumoured to be going to the Holy Land together this year, but it is abundantly clear what moral positions are held by this man on key areas of the Church's battleground in the modern age.

His statements in the co-authored 'On Heaven and Earth' make plain his views on same-sex marriage and abortion. Why should someone with moral positions so divorced from the Church's clear and consistent teaching receive such high honours from the Catholic Church? I've nothing against dialogue and a 'culture of encounter' in principle, but honorary degrees from Catholic Universities?

I think celebrating the refusal of Christ is what they call post-christian. it's starting to make sense. don't worry sheeple, we've only got a post-Christian pope.

perhaps that's why Bergoglio reportedly said, 'May God forgive you, brothers', with a wry smile after they made him Bishop of Rome, 267.

but then maybe he didn't; does it sound out of character?

Rabbi Skorka just visited Pope Francis for the third time - or was it even the fourth?

"Pope Francis hosted 16 rabbis from his home country of Argentina on Thursday.
The meeting was organized by the Latin American Jewish Congress and the pontiff’s close friend, Rabbi Abraham Skorka of Argentina, who made headlines last fall when he spent the Jewish holiday of Sukkot with Pope Francis.
Meanwhile, a conference focusing on furthering dialogue between Catholics and Jews called “Jewish-Catholic dialogue, 50 years after ‘Nostra Aetate.’ A Latin-American perspective,” was held at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome on Thursday.
The conference was organized by Skorka and presided over by Cardinal Kurt Koch, president of the Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, Vatican News reported."

"Pope Francis hosts Argentine Jewish leaders for kosher lunch
16 January 2014
ROME – A delegation of 15 Argentine Jewish leaders was hosted Thursday for an informal kosher lunch at the Vatican’s Santa Marta guesthouse by Pope Francis."
http://www.worldjewishcongress.org/en/news/14362/pope_francis_hosts_15_argentine_jewish_leaders_for_kosher_lunch

"Never before in the history of Christian-Jewish relations have a Pope and a Rabbi celebrated their friendship by living in the Vatican together for several days, sharing all meals, including on two Jewish festivals and the Sabbath at which the Rabbi said prayers in Hebrew, and discussing what more they can do together to promote dialogue and peace in the world.

That is what actually happened over the past four days at the Vatican guesthouse (Santa Marta) where Pope Francis lives and where his friend from Buenos Aires, Rabbi Abraham Skorka, has been his guest from September 25 to this day.

“I eat with him at breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. He cares for me, and controls everything regarding my food to makes sure it is all kosher, and according to my religious tradition. These are festive days, and I have to say certain prayers at meals and, I expand the last prayer and translate it. He accompanies me together with the others at table -his secretaries and a bishop, and they all say ‘Amen’ at the end”, the Rabbi said."

Ecumenical giddiness from the Vicar of Christ - I wonder does it ever cross the mind of Pope Francis that he could, perhaps, might be betraying Our Holy Saviour over and over again?

I do not understand how someone can represent Our Lord Jesus Christ on the earth and do as he does - over and over again. Other popes may have made mistakes along these ecumenical lines - but never to this extent.

The photo with Pope Francis and the Jewish leaders from Argentina made me feel sick at heart...I do not understand....no, no...

No - we are in a real objective disaster - and no amount of spinning from well-intentioned Catholics to defend the Pope will assuage my extreme discomfort as I witness to this...

What in heavens name is going on? What is this? A Rabbi living in the Vatican? What are they trying to do in Rome? Have they lost it completely?

Come on! I am also getting a bit angry...

This wouldn't be the canonisation of certain viewpoints, would it?

Read this (it's quite long though), and many things will become clear.

We've gone from the conversion of Rabbi Israel Zolli under Pius XII, to this. Sad.

St. Paul expressed it so well in his Epistle to the Hebrews when he wrote, 'Hey, you have your truth and I have mine, nuff said'. Inspiring stuff.

Dear Anonymous - it is still betrayal if you think deeply on who Pope Francis is dining and wineing with! And for the whole wide world to see! It is Scandalous!

Dialogue for what anyway?

Besides, you are wrong as this dialogue business is at the heart of all ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue. Itis a load of old rubbish anyway as it is an absolute waste of time. It never goes anywhere - meanwhile the Vicar of Christ is humiliating Our Lord. Have you read what Talmud Jews say about Our Lord?

The Catholic Church was given the possession of the Truth by God Himself - Our Holy Saviour (why did He bother suffering all that He did for us - for all men - for farces like this? No way!

The only inter-religious dialogue worth anything is to call the ones outside the Church to the fullness of truth which only the Church possesses - Our Blessed Lord Himself.

And if the Pope doesn't have the guts to do that he should at least refrain from humilating the Mystical Body of Christ and all Her authentic members!

I tell you if I could speak to Pope Francis - I would tell him exactly this!

Thank you Damask Rose - I will get to your link later..

How come the Pope hasn't converted the Rabbi to the one true Faith yet? He needs to brush up on the urgency of the mission of bringing the Faith to all souls for their salvation.

Tsk, come now Lynda. According to John Paul II, their Old Covenant is still up and running...

Way to go, Barbara!

Damask Rose, I read that article and if that is all true (I have no knowledge to confute it)- it is truly shocking! It would confirm what a very good priest said about VATICAN II being an attack by Satan on the Church whether the men who committed these crimes against the truth were aware of it or not - let God be the judge of that.

What is clear that there was a compromise leading to betrayal of Our Lord - and yes, of us - the people - the faithful have been duped by unscrupulous men who appear not to care a whit about the Truth and the salvation of souls.

Why though? I still don't truly understand - I must be quite thick...

Barbara

PS. I continue to pray for Pope Francis and these cowardly leaders everyday...

And thanks Mr. Laurence for giving me this space to express myself - you have a good Catholic blog...no doubt about that.
