A Rather Beautiful Tribute to Pope Paul VI

Pope Paul VI was before my time obviously, but I like this video. It's interesting to see what this Pope wore and his manner, which certainly seems very modest, self-effacing and charming.

I have a letter from his office, after I wrote to him congratulating him on Humanae Vitae, being the cheeky thing I was in my youth. I did get an answer. I also congratulated Bl John Paul II on his staunch stand re: pro-life and against the communists, and have a letter from his office as well.

I actually have great love for Paul VI. For no other reason than HV, he should be praised.

PS I hope people recognize some of the famous ones, including Golda Meir, in these photos. And, oh, what I would not give for a mantilla like Jackie Kennedy's!

Too bad he couldn't see his third hand stocking the fire for the smoke of satan in while his other hands were: 'At the end of the second session of the Second Vatican Council in 1963, Paul VI descended the steps of the papal throne in St. Peter's Basilica and ascended to the altar, on which he laid the tiara in a dramatic gesture of humility and as a sign of the renunciation of human glory and power in keeping with the renewed spirit of the Council. Since then, none of his successors has worn a tiara." correction, as a sign of the renunciation of heavenly glory. Paul VI gave as pix'n'mix Catholicsm, which, is, um, protestantism, except now you have to worship the Pope himself as new and infallible creature, rather Christ, whom he sublates.

Supertradmum mentions the famous people pictured with Pope Paul. It is particularly poignant to see the future Pope John-Paul 1 - the Pope for 33 days (at 3.08). He became known as the smiling Pope and he is smiling in this photo too.
