Felix sit annus novus

2010 looks set to be interesting! Happy new year peeps!

St Mary Magdalen Soup Run Blog

I've set up a blog for the St Mary Magdalen Soup Run to try and raise awareness of the soup run and see if it can generate some new volunteers. Only one post so far, but over time I hope to be able to interview volunteers and men and women who rely on the soup run as I would imagine they have some interesting life stories. Crisp or Tatchell? I know who I'd rather have round for tea!

Tim Walker of The Telegraph writes in his column of Peter Tatchell's anger that Quentin Crisp's personality has been "sanitised" for ITV in a new film of his life. I guess that means there aren't enough gay sex scenes and that Crisp didn't ever publicly give a ringing endorsement to homosexuality, so therefore he should be castigated. While he never denied his sexual orientation and played to the gallery with his flamboyance and eccentricity, he was never on the 'liberation' bandwagon and for Peter Tatchell, that just isn't good enough. Walker writes...

The homosexual rights campaigner tells me that the film – a sequel to The Naked Civil Servant, dealing with Crisp's later years as a "resident alien" in America – "sanitised" him, which he considered "ill-advised" as the man himself encouraged hatred of homosexuals.

"Although astonishingly brave and defiant as an 'out' gay man in the 1930s and 40s, he was later self-obsessed, homophobic and reactionary," says Tatchell. "He denounced the gay rights movement and slammed homosexuality as 'a terrible disease' and believed that 'the world would be better without homosexuals."

Tatchell met Crisp in the 1970s in the Charing Cross Road in London when he had taken exception to a "gay liberation" badge that the campaigner had been wearing. "He was very dismissive about it," Tatchell recalls. "He asked me what it was that I wanted to be liberated from. I think he hated the fact that time had moved on and he was no longer unique – no longer the only visible queer on the block.

"For gay men, he was a terrible role model and certainly never used his celebrity status positively. He disgracefully dismissed Aids as a 'fad.' He said gay men were incapable of love and said that they had 'feminine minds' which made him a misogynist as well as a homophobe."

While Tatchell considered Hurt's performance as Crisp to have been "stunning," he didn't see why his life should be celebrated. "Along with Larry Grayson and John Inman, he confirmed rather than challenged prejudices."

My, oh my, what a terrifying list of crimes! Peter Tatchell, sorrowfully, cannot stand it when a gay man disagrees with him and doesn't believe in the 'cause'. He cannot even bring himself to accept a condemnation of the homosexual culture, steeped as it is, in narcissism, vulgarity, bad music, promiscuity and self-destruction from one who is a homosexual, as if somehow any gay man not on a Pride float calling for the age of consent for homosexuals to be lowered to 11 is part of an international conspiracy against 'the gays'. It sounds to me rather as if Crisp had a far deeper, more subtle and nuanced insight into the human condition and his own personal one than Tatchell ever will. While he may have minced he didn't mince his words on the homosexual culture which he condemned as vacuous and painfully empty. By all accounts, I can imagine his company would be much more enjoyable than Peter Tatchell's. Wit, charm, tenderness, charisma, humility and generosity of spirit. Wikipedia suggests he had time for everyone...

As he had done in London, Crisp allowed his phone number to be listed in the telephone directory and saw it as his duty to converse with anyone who called him. For the first twenty or so years of owning his own telephone he habitually answered calls with the phrase "Yes, Lord?" ("Just in case," he once said.) Later on he changed it to "Oh yes?" in a querulous tone of voice. His openness to strangers extended to accepting dinner invitations from almost anyone. While it was expected that the inviter would pay for dinner, Crisp did his best to "sing for his supper" by regaling his hosts with wonderful stories and yarns much as he did in his theatre performances. Dinner with him was said to be one of the best shows in New York.

Peter Tatchell, on the other hand, has time only for the promulgation of his own vulgar statements and shameful political motives. People like Tatchell will never 'get' Crisp, Wilde or any of the 'gay icons' who were quietly excommunicated from the 'movement' because they didn't tow the 'party line' enough.

Crisp observed, "Fashion is what you adopt when you don't know who you are." Anyone now, including a gay man who speaks against the 'gay movement' is ironically seen as an outsider, an outcast, perhaps a troublemaker and not just to the gay community but to society as a whole. Nowadays, to condemn the homosexual lifestyle is counter-cultural. Who knows, a year or two and to speak against it will be illegal. What, I ask you, could be more romantic than that!? Young men will soon be getting arrested for crimes against public indecency...

"Dear Mr Dawkins, I thank God for you everyday..."

H/T Valle Adurni

Richard Dawkins.net is a 'clear thinking oasis' or perhaps rather more of a mirage of cool fresh water in the spiritual desert that is the poor British Isles. Bathed in celestial hues of blue and white, the official Dawkins webpage is a 'site' to behold. A seemingly new addition to the website has been explored by Valle Adurni who senses a spirit of the evangelical 'testimony' about the site, where born-again non-believers stand up and proclaim their new found faith to all and sundry, while the online congregation claps and says, "Amen, brother! There ain't no Creator! Praise Dawkins!"

Strikingly anti-Catholic, rather than being merely anti-religion, the 'Converts' Corner' has stories of former Christians, who it appears are ignorant of their own Faith, who have finally allowed the pure bright light of reason to dawn upon them like a shaft of sunshine streaming into a gothic Cathedral...The experience of the discovery of God's non-existence brings new believers in 'Atheism' great joy, an experience which is followed not too long after by a personal breakdown as the enthusiasm of the initial 'faith experience' dissipates and the new non-believer has to undergo a course of counselling in order to explore deep and complex personal issues related to their upbringing. Often their experience is akin to an unspiritual spiritual high. It goes something like this...

New non-believer's 'testimony'...

Dear Mr Dawkins,

"Oh, Mr Dawkins! I was blind, but now I see! I remember so well the day I invited you into my life as my personal scientist, my teacher and guide! When I read your book, it were as if Jesus, or someone like Jesus (though obviously not Jesus because He is not God since I no longer believe in His Divinity, for behold, God ceases to exist when I lose my faith) came along and spat on some clay and rubbed it over my eyes just like in the Holy Gospel which isn't Holy because it wasn't based on science or empirical evidence and none of it took place in the lab!

And when I opened my eyes, you, Mr Dawkins alerted me to the truth. We are genomes! There is no God, nor are our souls like unto Him, made as they aren't, in His Image! We don't have souls, we only have genes! There is only oblivion at the end of our lives! We shall not be judged according to our deeds, words, thoughts or omissions! Oh, happy day! When Mr Dawkins showed me the way! Now I can have as many abortions as I like and be guilt-free! I can have as many sexual partners as I like and there is no moral impediment nor recourse to God's inexhaustible mercy since it ran out since there is no God since you chased Him away with your Reason stick! You big God fighter, you! You man of steel! Reason has thought Him out of existence with a mere cursory glance over a Guardian article highlighting 150 years since the publication of The Origin of Species! Not that I've read the actual book, mind! Now, I can abuse the poor and not think ill of it, since the old law of love has given way to the new law of the survival of the fittest! Some friends think I'm a bit full on and call me a 'The God Delusion' basher, but I don't care what they think...

Now thanks to you, Mr Dawkins, I can wake in the morning and dedicate myself to nothingness, futility and an abyss of nihilistic despair and spiritual desolation, comforting myself only with take-aways and a string of unfulfilling sexual affairs! Oh, Mr Dawkins, you have shown me Reason! And Reason is like God even though He doesn't exist nor deserves a capital! I mean, He's not Paris is He!?

O my Richard, let us make you king and you can lead us in the worship of the goddess Reason, although she is not a goddess since we don't discriminate anymore gender-wise and God doesn't exist anyway! Leave discrimination to those evil Catholics! Oh boy, this is exciting...this is how it must have felt if you were on the winning side during the French Revolution! I'm ripping up my Rosary and using the beads to make an abacus or a model of human DNA to keep pinned to the wall below my picture of you! I hope one day we can meet and urinate through the letterboxes of those foolish priests and you can tell me all about your interest in eugenics. It's high time society persecuted the 'unfit'! I thank God for you everyday! Or at least I would if I believed in Him!

In the absence of an All-loving Redeemer, Richard, you will just have to do! I love you Richard and I am yours! You've changed my life! I'm going to volunteer for you and spread your contrived, half-baked bullsh*t in every pub in the land! O Richard! I'm your biggest fan! If we don't meet in this life, I just know we'll meet in the one which is not to come, since there is nothing, just deadness!

Yours lovingly

BBC 'Ethical Man' Muses on Population and Climate Change

"Who will deliver babies if all the storks die due to global warming?"

Check out the BBC's 'having children is bad for the environment' column! Blasted BBC! Shamelessly promoting the Optimum Population Trust and their brand of neo-Nazism! I hope people can see through this garbage. The BBC's 'Ethical Man' is Justin Rowlatt...

'Normally the birth of a child is a moment of pure celebration. Not for me. When my lovely daughter Elsa was born (our third child) I had to justify her very existence. Her birth came half-way through my year of carbon cutting as the BBC's Ethical Man so my family life was under intense scrutiny.

I discovered that lots of people (who I am sure are very pleasant in their everyday lives) believe very strongly that the world is already full, and new Elsas are simply not welcome. So is the burgeoning human population really the cause of our climate crisis?(...)The distinctly lacklustre deal at Copenhagen suggests that the world isn't going to reduce greenhouse gas emissions anywhere near as quickly as the science says is necessary.

And the population is rising. You'll find no shortage of frightening statistics at the website of the new Malthusians at the Optimum Population Trust, which campaigns to reduce population. It details how world population is expected to swell from 6.8 billion this year to 9.1 billion in 2050...For full debacle click here...

Peter's Fence

Thanks be to God, the Holy Father emerged unscathed and unharmed.

The 82-year-old pontiff was knocked to the floor as he proceeded down the main aisle for the Christmas Eve Mass. Although shaken, the Pope got to his feet and continued with the late night service. French Cardinal Roger Etchegaray, 87, fractured his hip as he tried to stop the woman reaching the Pope.

So say a prayer for him and for the Holy Father! There are growing concerns that the female attacker, described as an 'unbalanced individual' tried the same stunt last Midnight Mass. Looks like a case of forgiving seven times seventy-seven times. Still, while those of us who love the Holy Father might wish security could be better, in as much as it was the same lady as last time, there is quite some merit in that! Who knows!? Maybe they'll let her into Midnight Mass next year and it'll be third time lucky and she won't lunge at His Holiness! The Holy Father lives to fight another day and we pray, years to come! Long may he reign!

"Happy Holidays" from Google!

Christmas is snowmen, CND-style-lefty-peace, space exploration, fireworks and a happy holiday. Funny that, I could have sworn it was commemorating the birth of Our Lord...Must have missed something there!

Marriage Becoming Preserve of Middle Class, Says Tory

I'm not in the habit of quoting Tories but this Guardian article is quite interesting...

Marriage in Britain is in danger of becoming an exclusive middle-class institution unless action is taken to bolster it, David Willetts, the shadow cabinet member responsible for the family, says today.

Speaking to the Guardian, Willetts said it would be "extremely dangerous if marriage became something only for the affluent elite" and that the rate of family break-ups was a disaster for children.

The Conservatives are due to publish their ideas on the family in a discussion paper arguing the state and the voluntary sector can do more to help fathers in relationships, especially at the birth of the first child, frequently a point where couples drift apart and separate.

The party will also back recognition of marriage in the tax system, as well as providing relationship advice at civil marriage ceremonies.

The green paper will propose changes in the law to make it easier for grandparents and fathers to stay in contact with children when marriages break up.

Willetts insisted there was measurable evidence to show that married couples with children, as opposed to cohabiting couples, stayed together longer to the benefit of children.

"The aspiration of marriage is becoming harder to achieve. Instead of it becoming just what you do in your 20s, it has become like scaling Mount Everest, a sort of great moral endeavour – and something that requires a lot of time and money. We think we need to ease some of the pressures," he said.

"There is quite a lot of evidence coming from America about how we are in danger of heading towards a society where middle-class people get married and people on low and erratic incomes don't get married, and that in turn leads to a divergence of a whole host of other outcomes...

The Nativity: Would It Be Any Different Today?

Giotto's The Flight Into Egypt

This is going to sound a little heretical so gird your loins. I was wondering the other evening whether a modern Nativity scene would be much different to the Gospel and came to the conclusion that, although the West believes itself to have moved out of 'biblical times', the 'dark ages' and into a bright post-enlightenment modernity, the same conditions of the Nativity story apply, even in the UK. You don't have to go to Africa to witness extreme poverty, misery, hunger, destitution and refugees.

In the Gospel we are told that the Holy Family, our Blessed Lord having just been born, were in the gravest danger. We are told that they experience at first hand, poverty and hardship. The Christ Child is under threat from Herod who orders the massacre of the Holy Innocents. The Holy Family become refugees, seeking asylum. When they return to Bethlehem, the Blessed Virgin and St Joseph become as beggars looking for somewhere, anywhere for the Virgin must lay her head down to give birth to Christ, not in luxury, but in the poor, dark, stinking, humble surroundings of a stable. The Son of God is about to be born and the Virgin and St Joseph are homeless!

Would it be different today? It is certainly possible that it would not be...

If the Blessed Virgin were to give birth to Our Lord nowadays in the UK, she and St Joseph would still be poor. Being poor, perhaps, the couple would come under unwanted attention from social services. The rumours and situation of the Holy Family would be known to the mental health division of social services who would seek to locate Blessed Mary and St Joseph, for it is said that she is a Virgin and this is beyond human atheistic comprehension, beyond the comprehension indeed of Christians.

They would be hounded by social services and mental health division. Mental health might want to section the Blessed Virgin Mary and her spouse most chaste, her mental health having been called into question. Social services would have tried to counsel the Virgin to consider abortion, making her and St Joseph take flight to another country or town where the poor are not urged to consider aborting or abortion is rare. So Herod is still alive! Fleeing their persecutors they could have fallen into homelessness and destitution and become refugees. Perhaps in bad economic times, the carpenting trade would dry and St Joseph would be unemployed. Perhaps they would end up in a queue for bread and soup on a soup run, having little money with which to buy food for themselves. The 'wise men' or Magi would knock on the door of a council flat or council estate garage where someone has let the Virgin give birth, since they still had so long to wait to get onto a council house waiting list. Then, once she had given birth to the Son of God, social services, seeing their poverty would try and take the Child into care, so that the Child could be handed over to either a middle-class family for fostering or adoption, or a wealthier gay couple, for they would be deemed to be unsuitable parents, so they may have to flee and get on a National Express somewhere, anywhere but where they were and live incognito, hidden lives away from the eyes and ears of the State!

We think we have come so far from 'biblical times' but that is far from the truth! Grinding poverty and misery still exists in this country, so often hidden from the eyes of the rich! The poor are still persecuted and bullied, shunted from pillar to post. Like the Holy Family, poor and exiled from the society of the wealthy, the very poor are given few 'choices' and are often left dispossessed and excluded.

Our Heavenly Mother and Queen, the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Mother of the Earth, the Mother of God, the Mother of all Christians is cloaked in blue and white just like the Earth. She is patroness and protectress of all who dwell here. It is she who is the great source of grace to the Church and the Faithful. Through her, the World is redeemed by Her Divine Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. By merit of her holy and Immaculate Conception, having been spared from the stain of the sin of our first parents, she inherits the World and all of its children who now belong to her. She intercedes for us, for the World and draws us to her Son. If World leaders truly want to 'save the planet' then they should turn to her.

Was Shakespeare a Secret Catholic?

In Shakespeares's time you had to be a 'closet' Catholic, otherwise you 'd get your head lopped off...

The Telegraph reports that...

The Venerable English College has claimed that England's leading playwright was a secret Catholic who spent "lost years" in Rome.

Father Andrew Headon, the vice-rector of the college, said that college records correspond with a previously undocumented period in Shakespeare's life after he left Stratford in 1585 and before he emerged as a playwright in London in 1592. "There are several years which are unaccounted for in Shakespeare's life," said Father Headon.

A leather parchment kept by the college is signed by "Arthurus Stratfordus Wigomniensis" in 1585, "Shfordus Cestriensis" in 1587 and "Gulielmus Clerkue Stratfordiensis" in 1589.

The college believes these signatures are: "(King) Arthur's (compatriot) from Stratford (in the diocese) of Worcester," "Sh(akespeare from Strat)ford (in the diocese) of Chester" and "William the Clerk from Stratford".

Shakespeare's family was Catholic and he had many friends who where loyal to Rome.

That's settled then! Another literary genius for the Church! Hurrah! Doubts still remain over Dante though...

Pope Says Nope to Flagrant Use of Image for Brands

The Holy See has declared that anyone wishing to use the face or name of the Holy Father must gain approval from the Vatican. In recent years, several attempts have been made to use the Pope’s name on products and include it in the name of buildings or universities. To try and prevent this, the Vatican said: “Recent years have witnessed a great increase of affection and esteem for the person of the Holy Father.

“There has also been a desire to use the Pope’s name in the title of universities, schools or cultural institutions, as well as associations, foundations and other groups.

“In light of this fact, the Holy See hereby declares that it alone has the right to ensure the respect due to the Successors of Peter, and, therefore, to protect the figure and personal identify of the Pope from the unauthorised use of his name and/or the papal coat of arms for ends and activities which have little or nothing to do with the Catholic Church.”

However, a copyright lawyer said that a simple warning may not be enough. Robin Fry, from the firm Beachcrofts, told The Times: “Popes throughout history have been plagued by their image being reproduced, whether as little trinkets, or, recently, mechanical dolls.

"There has even been a Pope soap on a rope. This declaration is a brave attempt to control use of the imprimatur and image of His Holy Father, but this can only realistically be done through registration of trademarks. Without this, the Vatican’s jurisdiction extends legally only to the 110 acres of the Vatican City and any new laws it announces cannot be enforced elsewhere, unless other countries adopt the same rules.”

More Monumental Marxist Miliband Madness...

More Stone Roses...'How Do You Sleep?'

Ed Miliband, Climate Change Secretary, is brother of David Miliband, Foreign Secretary, another Labour apparatchick intent on dissolving UK sovereignty like crumbly disprin in a glass of water. So, Ed, Sudan rejected it and compared the deal to the Holocaust! Oh well! Carry on regardless, eh?! What do they know?! A Telegraph blogger says Ed Miliband didn't sleep well at all at the Copenhagen Summit...With an attitute like that to the concerns of Sudan, I'm not surprised!

The UK's climate change secretary has said the UN Copenhagen summit was the "most chaotic show on earth" and arguments "strangled" negotiations [or is that impositions]. Ed Miliband said he was disappointed China and India did not want legally binding targets, and Sudan and Venezuela almost overturned the accord. Delegates largely backed a US-led climate deal which included limiting temperature rises to less than 2C. But the 193-nation summit ended with delegates taking "note" of the deal.

The accord, reached between the US, China and a small group of other countries, was recognised by delegates on Saturday afternoon. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the agreement must be made legally binding next year. The pact did not win unanimous support, amid opposition from some developing nations. Mr Miliband said "sticking points" had led four or five countries to almost "dump the agreement completely" at 4am on Saturday morning. He said he had been in his hotel room, "in his underwear", when he was called back for "hours of wrangling" to stop a deal being blocked.

"The whole accord was in danger of being overturned by some countries, including Sudan and Venezuela. I was told that actually the deal looked like it might be just blocked. The Sudanese delegate in particular had compared the deal to the holocaust and was trying to whip up anger against it. Luckily we found a way round the issue, but it highlights the complexity of a deal when it needs unanimity," he said.

He said some developing countries, such as China, did not want targets to be under international legally-binding obligations. "They have doubts about whether we should, as a world, commit to a kind of bigger target, to say, for example - as the scientists say - we should cut our carbon emissions by 50% by 2050."

But he said talks had not been "a waste of time" because it was the first time both developed and developing countries wanted to tackle the problem. There was also "importantly, finance in the deal", he said.

The agreement outlined a goal of providing $100bn a year by 2020 to help poorer countries and also promised to deliver $30bn (£18.5bn) of aid for developing nations over the next three years. Mr Miliband said there would be more transparency in about six weeks, when countries had agreed to put forward their targets. He said he had "absolutely not given up hope, but it was important to move forward urgently" and a legal agreement "was still necessary".

Crackin'! Ed Miliband, another Marxist ideologue in a conference full of Marxist ideologues...

Thalidomide and the Abortion Act (1967)

The thalidomide scandal rocked the UK and bolstered the pro-abortion arguments in the abortion debate in the 1960s. Was it really an 'accident'?

The Telegraph today reports that...

Under a deal to be announced soon, the Department of Health will pay a grant of £20 million over three years to the Thalidomide Trust, which dispenses aid to people disabled by the drug. The deal follows a campaign backed by the Sunday Times to secure financial support for the UK's 463 surviving "thalidomiders", many of whom are unable to work and require adapted homes and cars.

Pregnant women were prescribed thalidomide in the 1950s and 1960s to treat morning sickness or insomnia, but it was withdrawn from sale in 1961 after babies were born with limb deformities and other damage.

The drug's UK manufacturer, Distillers Biochemicals, paid around £28 million compensation in the 1970s following a legal battle by the families of those affected. Under the new settlement, the grant will be reviewed after three years but it is expected to be continued for the lifetimes of those damaged by the drug. It is also hoped a further £5 million could be provided if the devolved governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland contribute, according to campaigners.

Thalidomide campaigner Guy Tweedy, 47, from Harrogate, said health minister Mike O'Brien had agreed to the deal following negotiations. He said: "This is a significant day in the long-running battle to get a fair and just settlement for the victims of this wicked drug. Our campaign, which was fought with dignity and determination, has always been about justice and not entitlement. For more than 50 years we have had to live with the consequences of our mothers taking this 'wonder drug'. Little did they know the damage it would do to the unborn child in the womb. We estimate at least 1,000 babies were born with deformities brought about directly by this drug, and more than half of them died within their first year. An unknown number also died in the womb."

Over the last seven years, Mr Tweedy, with fellow thalidomider Nick Dobrik, has met 150 MPs, including Mr O'Brien and Alan Johnson, the former health secretary. The drug was developed in the mid 1950s in Germany and in 1958 it was described by the British government's Cohen Committee as a "great drug with proven value".

Mr Tweedy said the money and apology would make a "big difference" to surviving thalidomiders and parents who cared for the most seriously disabled. "This ruling will now help ease the lives of many who, for more than half a century, have struggled daily with the terrible deformities they suffered as a direct result of thalidomide," he said. A Department of Health spokesman said: "We will make an announcement in due course."

Interesting? In the clear light of day it is, since decades have passed since the Abortion Act (1967) came into being. The Wellcome Trust 'human genome' website states that...

1960s: Thalidomide and rubella: In the words of Simms and Hindell (1971): "In the spring of 1961, Britain witnessed the birth of an 'epidemic' of deformed children" due to the taking of the drug thalidomide by pregnant women. Anxiety among parents about the risk of having a 'deformed' child was augmented by a simultaneous outbreak of rubella in Britain in 1962. This had a "major impact on public opinion regarding legalised abortion for handicap".

Co-incidence...? That could depend on how many members of the Eugenics Society had gone on to high-level positions of authority in the pharmaceutical industry, Parliament and the family planning groups who so advocated the abortion bill and how much such vested interests wanted the legislation of the Abortion Bill to pass. Given the advocates wanted to kill babies anyway, why would that surprise us?

UK Christmas Number 1 Outrage

Come back, Cliff! All is forgiven! If you don't like swearing, don't listen. What's happened to this country?! Tenuously, it could be a pro-life song, or an anti-government song, or both, but it doesn't exactly say, 'Merry Christmas one un' all'. Neither does this, but it should have got to number 1 at some stage. I don't know! Where is the justice!?

Drive-Thru Sainthoods

To those who are concerned that the road to Sainthood appears to fast-track some men and women who only relatively recently passed from this life to the next, it is worthwhile remembering that both St Francis and St Anthony were canonised the following year after their holy deaths had ended their holy lives! May God be praised for all of His Saints! Even St John of the Cross, one of thirty-three Doctors of the Church had to wait a full 135 years. Ironic, really, because 33 is a perfect number of Doctors, since this was the age at which our Blessed Lord died. To have any more Doctors would be a bit rubbish now since the number of them is perfect, so if any more come along, they should be ignored. If they are genuinely interested in the good of Holy Mother Church, they will understand and keep schtum, so if there are any Doctors out there, shhhh...

Politicians Christmas Cards...Where is Christmas?

Gordon and Sarah Brown's Number 10 Downing Street Card...So surreal that only gnostics understand the hidden meaning. Maybe Gordon's saying, '...and narrow is the door to Number 10 and few be those who find it. But broad is the road out of Number 10 and and the majority of people hope I find it soon...'

Boris Johnson's mayoral card...dangerously Christmassy, depicting a star and 'wise men'.

Liberal Democrat Cleggy Christmas card...cute and festive if more than a little cheesy, having shamelessly exploited their own child to design it.

Tony and Cherie Blair's card...So scandalously narcisstic, they can't even bring themselves to say 'Merry Christmas' nor bear for their divine image not to be replaced, just for one day, by that of the Holy Family. Worthy only of burning. The only Christmas card that makes you want to punch strangers while saying, "Someone will answer for this atrocity!".

Speaker John Bercow card...Festive family based japes and laughs, but where's the holly? Also I hope you've all got CRB checks, including you children. Get their DNAs and put them onto the database, just in case, because they might just have the gene that makes you a criminal type.

The Conservative's David Cameron Christmas card...Outrageously bland and meaningless, unless Cameron is saying that Parliament is appears to be less corrupt when it is covered in snow. Impressive only in as much as it reflects the strength of personality of the leader perfectly.

Rome is Where the Heart Is

The Catholic should, while remaining conscious of his own unworthiness, stand in opposition to the moral vicissitudes of his time. He should be a sign of contradiction to the World. He should astonish unbelievers not in the performance of great works but by his simplicity of heart. He should delight in the truth. His life should bear witness to truths Eternal, Timeless and Divine. He should expose the errors of the World cheerfully and with charity, knowing that in Christ alone is true joy, that man's vocation without Him is bereft of true meaning and that without Him the foundations on which stand even the loftiest of human principles will whither, decay and fall, built as they have been, upon falsehood.

Conscious of his weakness and his dependence on God alone, he should take comfort in the knowledge that nothing is impossible for God. In discovering that God is Truth and Love, he should proclaim it in word and deed and lead others to know that only in the fiery abyss of love, dwelling in the Heart of Jesus, can man find his true vocation and joy. He should not fear the desolation of the Cross, nor the insults of men, nor their ridicule, nor any form of suffering. He should fear no man, for the truth that he has found drives him on and this truth he should defend, even unto his dying breath, even unto the shedding of his own blood for the sake of Christ and His Gospel, for in return for so honouring God, God will surely honour him.

Pius XII, the pope who led the Church during the Second World War, and John Paul II, who died in 2005, are now "Venerable" because Benedict XVI signed the decree by which he acknowledges their "heroic virtues".

The Congregation for the Causes of Saints today published a series of decrees in which the pontiff recognizes 5 miracles attributed to several people (including the venerable Mary McKillop, Australia) and also recognizes the "heroic virtues" of a further 10 people between among them the two popes.

These decrees pave the way for their beatification, as soon as there is the recognition of a miracle attributed to them. Another decree recognizes the martyrdom of the Polish priest, Fr Jerzy Popieluszko, killed by the communist police in 1984.

Also today, Benedict XVI met with all the members of the Congregation for the Cause of Saints for celebration marking the 40th anniversary of the dicastery. In his address, citing the various stages leading to the canonization of a candidate, the pope said: "In the first instance, the People of God are invited to look at those brothers who, after an initial careful discernment, are proposed as models of Christian life; the a cult of veneration and invocation confined within local churches or religious orders is urged; finally, we are called to rejoice with the whole community of believers in the certainty that, thanks to solemn papal proclamation, a son or daughter has reached the glory of God, where they participate in perpetual intercession of Christ in favour of his or her brethren (cf. Heb 7:25). "

Science Corner: Whats missing from this picture?

Apparently its sun spots. We're not getting any. I don't like science much. Its a bit dull and it makes me fall asleep.

An international panel of solar scientists now predicts that the next solar storm season, which should peak in 4 years, will be the weakest since 1928. The most common measure of a solar cycle's intensity is the number of sunspots, the more spots, the more solar storms. Earlier predictions allowed for a higher number of sunspots.

The panel predicts that the upcoming solar cycle 24 (which keeps getting delayed) will peak in May of 2013, with a maximum of 90 sun spots per day on average.

If this new prediction is correct, it would make solar cycle 24 the weakest since 1928, when it peaked out with 78 sunspots. Solar cycle 24 would also be the 9th weakest season since the 1750's, when numbered cycles began.

Also, solar cycle 23, which is ending, could end up being the longest cycle since 1823.

An unusually long, deep lull in sunspots led the panel to revise its 2007 prediction that the next cycle of solar storms would start in March 2008 and peak in late 2011 or mid-2012. The persistence of a quiet sun also led the panel to a consensus that the next cycle will be "moderately weak," according to the NOAA press release.

Many scientists believe that long periods of low solar activity has a noticeable cooling effect on the planet.

Oh right! Great! That'll explain why I can't move my flippin' car! Bring back global warming! Everybody! Start breathing harder! We need more people! Breed like rabbits!

Another Christian Pays the Price of Faith

Ah the English...full of festive spirit and cheer...Just don't mention God, okay!

The Daily Mail reports that...

A devout Christian teacher has lost her job after discussing her faith with a mother and her sick child and offering to pray for them.

Olive Jones, a 54-year-old mother of two, who taught maths to children too ill to attend school, was dismissed following a complaint from the girl’s mother. She was visiting the home of the child when she spoke about her belief in miracles and asked whether she could say a prayer, but when the mother indicated they were not believers she did not go ahead.

Mrs Jones was then called in by her managers who, she says, told her that sharing her faith with a child could be deemed to be bullying and informed her that her services were no longer required...[Full article here.]

'Mother Earth' In 11th Hour Copenbargain Plea

Mother Earth has made an 11th hour attempt to persuade the leaders of the World to rethink on climate change and push for a better agreement...with her! But, the UN claim that she will only do it for a fee. This fax (pictured above) has been sent anonymously to the UN, and it is being claimed by the UN that it was from Mother Earth. Sir James Lovelock, the 'Healing Gaia, human-population-is-a-cancer crackpot' said, "This is wonderful news! I know that Mother Earth will not let us down. She says she wants money to stop the global warming. I trust her, let's do it!"

Johnathan Porrit too confirmed the news with excitement. "This is the first time Mother Earth has actually spoken to us and she is our friend! I say, even though it looks like, once we give her £500,000,000,000,000 , she will be kind to us and sort out the climate, we should still get people to have one child families at the max so that we never get ourselves into this mess again. Actually, if we could get it down to 1/2 child to 3/4 child families, that would be even better."

Secretary general of the UN, Big Moon the III, said of the fax, "I can confirm that the money will be raised. We won't give it to the developing countries. Why bother when Mother Earth can do more with that money than mere carbon-credification. Now that Mother Earth is on our side, there's no way we can go wrong! This solves the issues with the developing nations as well. I know we've had problems with her before but I am pretty confident that if we give her the cash she wants, that she'll be faithful to her promise to sort the climate out. I think she's going to reset the climate back to what it was in the good old days."

Mother Earth, who has gained a reputation in some circles for being 'a bit of a bitch' at times, is known to be highly unpredictable and prone to just lashing out for no apparent reason, at great human cost, like in the Sri Lankan Tsunami and the Pakistan earthquake. When asked she would not comment on the apparent fax, instead saying, "Sorry, can't talk, bowel problems. Hurts to the core..."

Incredibly when asked where Mother Earth wanted the money dropped, the UN press secretary replied, "Conveniently, it is an address very near to the UN offices in New York. Talk about a co-incidence! Don't worry, the UN will make sure she gets the money. You can trust us. If all the Governments have a whip round, I know we can raise enough."

Tut...Wimmin'!

She's a lady and she wants to be a Priest. If you don't let her be a Priest she'll be very angry! Seems friendly enough, mind, bless her.

I'm snowed in, iced in, even. I had wanted to go up to London in the car today but I can't get my car out of its space. I fell flat on my behind on the way to the car and fell over twice on the way to the Latin Mass last night. Clearly the icy pavements had put off quite a few Latin Mass devotees as I was one of two parishioners who made it to Mass. Anyone else who tried to make it but didn't show, I can only assume, is in intensive care with broken hip bones and wrists. How humbling are snow and icy pavements! Mortal men suddenly have to watch their step and delicately negotiate each layer and bump of ice, no longer relying on their own efforts but resigning themselves to their utter dependence on their Maker! They fall down and are ashamed at their humiliation! They dust themselves down and acknowledge their frailty and weakness! The proud of heart are humbled but the lowly rejoice. Men fall on their rear ends and then praise God for His mercy and Providence!

Anyway, after Latin Mass I found a leaflet which a lady parishioner had given to Fr Ray Blake as she was horrified by an overt women's priests campaign. She had found the leaflet in a Church in East Grinstead. I read it and found it a little disturbing, if rather amusing. The campaign for women priests in the Catholic Church is a small and eccentric group of left-wing ladies. What is striking about their website is their unorthodox beliefs, confined not just to their desire to be ladypriestz but also their strange views on the Church all round from sexuality to the nature of God. While reading it I wondered whether they are not singularly funded by Cherie Blair. Basically, it appears that their view of God Himself, as well as His Church, is shaped by their feminism. How sad that the Faith can be so warped by the deceit of human ideology!

Ideologies, be it Feminism or Marxism see life in terms of a struggle. There must be opposing forces and one must win out. It is entwined with notions of 'progress' and views modernity as the height of man's achievements. 'Liberation' is concerned with the self and the satisfaction of the self. 'Liberation' is concerned only with 'rising up', rather than humbly accepting God's decrees in obedience. The same spirit running through the 'women's priests' movement motivates the Marxist liberation theologians so dangerous to the Church. It is no longer about God, or Salvation, it is about us, what we can do, not what God does. Same with the environ-mentalists. They go about crying out, 'We can save the Planet! We can do it! Yes, we can!' as if mankind can affect the climate with a dial on the Copenhagen conference hall wall. All we have to do is get an global agreement on turning down the thermostat a couple of digits and hey presto, World is saved! The same goes for every political movement aimed at changing Church teaching, like the LGBT group. There's an hilarious one in the US at the moment called Horny Young Catholics for Threesomes or something.

Time and time again these heretics see the Church as a human institution like any other. They see the Holy Father as the CEO of a large multi-national, and the Bishops as a kind of committee Board of Directors (though they could be forgiven for thinking that!) and the personal vocation to teach, to motherhood, to family life, to consecrated life or just being a layperson (how awful!) as a glass ceiling of injustice, while the Priesthood is withheld from them because of the power of men who wish to deny it arrogantly to women. Nasty men! Let's get em' girls! This is, of course, rubbish. Were such people to be ordained as Priestsesses they would continue taking their ideological struggle into Church ministry and preach their words of gender emnity to their congregations, warping the true message of the Gospel in every town and city and making a mockery of the words of Our Lord, the One True Faith and the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. These ladies yearn to be Priests to 'answer a call' from God, profess to love God and the Church, but then spout vile heresy everytime they speak. There is nothing Catholic in what they say. They probably haven't been to Confession in 25 years.

Here they point us to a website entitled The Body is Sacred, which is illustrative of their 'modern theology'.

View of modern Catholic theology - we say: YES! (Ah but what does the man from Del Monte say?)

Sex is sacred because it is created by God and sanctified by our rebirth in Christ. (Rebirthing...Not to be confused with Baptism)

Sex helps us to grow ourselves and to create bonds of love. (Bonds? How many bonds?! Sounds like multiple partners to me...)

Sex is only sinful if we cause harm to ourselves or to others. (Ah, that old chestnut. "Right. We're all single and a bit lonely...Dum, de, dum...Who's up for an orgy, then?")

Traditional views - THEY ARE NOT RIGHT!

"Pleasure during intercourse is the carrier of original sin"
St. Augustine

"Virginity belongs to paradise. Marriage began after the fall."
St. Jerome

"Every form of sex not directly open to conception is sinful." - Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

"The use of contraceptives, masturbation and homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." - Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith

Crackin'! One big sex party all round then! Go on, Sisters, the kids are going to lap this up!

Can you imagine it at Mass? "A reading from the misogynist, Paul..."

Clearly from their website and their campaign leaflet they do not believe the Church is:

a) One
b) Holy
c) Catholic
or
d) Apostolic

For if they believed the Church was truly Holy, founded by God Himself on the Rock of St Peter and guided by the Holy Spirit then they would accept quickly the Church teaching on this issue and all issues. They should not bother to profess even the Credo! Holy Mother Church cannot err on matters of Faith and Morals. In their eyes, it will only become Holy when it is how they wish it to be. They cannot accept that though She is full of poor sinners and many Saints, She is already Perfect and resplendent in Her beauty, majestic and crowned despite the faults of Her members!

One lawyer lady working on behalf of this group wrote on the back of the leaflet that if Christ truly wanted the Priesthood to be male and for women to be excluded that she could not believe in His Divinity. What an odd thing to say! 'The Lord says something which offends me, therefore I won't believe in Him and I'll go off in a huff and show Him my middle finger. "Screw You, Lord! If I can't be a Priestess You can stick Your Gospel!"' If we all behaved like that none of us would believe. One has to ask whether, if these ladies cannot believe in a Christ who wishes for a male Priesthood, then what chance they could believe any articles or tenets of Faith and teach them, like a Christ who believes in the Sacrament of Marriage? Bizarre! If you fancy a laugh, check out their website.

Blessed Virgin Mary Appearing to Strengthen Coptics, Egypt?

Some background information...

Egypt's Copts are an endangered minority. Exposed to continuous and subtle pressures, their numbers are dwindling. Thousands have emigrated; no official figures are available as to their numbers in the diaspora today, but reliable sources count two million living in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, and other countries of Europe. Thousands of those who are left behind convert to Islam every year to escape persecution; for example, between 1988 and 1990, 50,000 Coptic university graduates did so. Those who stay faithful to their religion in Egypt find themselves increasingly marginalized and alienated in their own country.

The Copts are so noisy! I mean, if they had just kept quiet for a moment maybe Our Lady might have said something!

Boozy, Greedy, Generous Santa Risk to Public Health!

Dr Nathan Grills from Monash University in Australia said the idea of a fat Father Christmas gorging on brandy and mince pies as he drove his sleigh around the world delivering presents was not the best way to promote a healthy and safe lifestyle among the young. Writing on bmj.com, Dr Grills said: "Santa only needs to affect health by 0.1 per cent to damage millions of lives."

That is hilarious...But Dr Grills...How much more dangerous is Christ Himself? I mean, you don't have to look too far back in history, nor look around other parts of the World to see that to follow Him could see you end up with your head chopped off, imprisonment or the kind of 'sack' you think should be given to Santa who apparently also promotes, wait for it...'drink-driving'!

Semi-Nude Mary and Joseph Sparks Catholic Outrage

The awful billboard image will not grace my blog...

Courtesy of The Guardian

A New Zealand church has sparked outrage by erecting a billboard depicting Mary and Joseph lying semi-nude beneath the sheets. In an unorthodox take on the Christmas tale, the billboard depicts a forlorn Joseph and Mary looking to the sky with a caption which reads: "Poor Joseph. God is a hard act to follow."

The St Matthew-in-the-City church said it wanted to inspire people to talk about the Christmas story. But within five hours of the billboard going up in downtown Auckland a man was standing on his car roof painting over the raunchy image.

Archdeacon Glynn Cardy said the church meant to challenge a fundamentalist interpretation of Christ's birth. "What we're trying to do is to get people to think more about what Christmas is all about. Is it about a spiritual male God sending down sperm so a child would be born, or is it about the power of love in our midst as seen in Jesus?" (Err, no, its about the Incarnation!!)

Cardy said one person had threatened to tear down the billboard but that of the 20 odd emails and phone calls he had received "about 50% said they loved it, and about 50% said it was terribly offensive".

The Catholic church joined those on the attack, accusing the Anglican church of disrespect. "It's flying in the face of our 2,000-year-old beliefs," a Catholic church spokesman, Lyndsay Freer, said.

The conservative Family First organisation said the Anglican church could debate the Bible story away from the public eye. "To confront children and families with the concept as a street billboard is completely irresponsible and unnecessary," Family First's national director, Bob McCoskrie, said.

A complaint has been lodged with New Zealand's advertising watchdog, the Advertising Authority, but Cardy was unrepentant. "I don't see why one person's protest should deny other people the enjoyment of the billboard."

BBC's Bizarre 'Have Your Say' on Ugandan Gay Law

Courtesy of The Guardian

The BBC today asked users of its news website "Should homosexuals face execution?" on a talkboard discussion for a World Service programme for African listeners. Posted on a BBC News premoderated talkboard, the thread was designed to provoke discussion ahead of the latest edition of interactive World Service programme 'Africa Have Your Say'. The headline now reads, 'Should Uganda debate gay execution?'

I listened to the said World Service programme last night and I felt awful for the Ugandan man who they interviewed, who basically said that it was a terrifying country to live in as a man with the homosexual condition. He thought he was the only man in the World with this condition and lived in fear for his life, because of the police and the fact that neighbour turns on neighbour. I'm surprised he hadn't topped himself years ago. Poor lamb. We Catholics believe the act of homosexuality is a very serious, mortal sin. However, we don't believe people should be crucified for their sins, since Christ has taken our sins upon Himself, out of love for mankind. Human law should reflect not only God's justice, but His mercy also. The state debases itself and society when it sheds the blood of its own citizens, especially if sins are committed out of human weakness rather than malice. The liberalisation of laws on homosexuality may have gone well beyond the pale in this country, making the gay lifestyle something actively promoted but it is the opposite end of the Ugandan extreme.

That said, at the same time, the BBC World Service is probably beginning an attempt to change, through its coverage, African attitudes towards homosexuality. African society is predominately pro-family and anti-homosexuality. The BBC is a propaganda machine for the gay political movement and probably wants to remake African society in modern liberal Britain's image. Wherever it is aired, perhaps, 'Auntie' wants to spread heresy, sin and liberalism, to every continent 'she' can. There will have been a time in the 1950s/60s when the UK was a lot more pro-family. Doubtless the BBC was intrumental in turning the UK into anti-family country it now is through the promotion of homosexuality and a wholly anti-family political agenda.

Liliane Landor, the BBC World Service acting head of Africa region, defended the radio programme and talkboard post, saying it allowed gays and lesbians from Uganda, whose voices have never been heard in the UK, to talk with dignity about the impact the legislation would have on their lives.

The show also included the opinion of those who supported the anti-homosexual legislation, including religious leaders, she said. "The programme was a dignified exchange between people who have differing beliefs," Landor added.

Interesting. Has anyone tried having a 'dignified exchange between people who have differing beliefs' on 'Have Your Say' in this country? Catholics I know who have tried putting their point of view across on BBC websites have been moderated severely. Looks like the BBC has one rule for Africans and another rule for the UK.

Professor Steve Jones: Has the Galton Institute Changed?

Richard Dawkins reviewed Professor Steve Jone's 'The Language of the Genes' as follows...

“I've enjoyed Steve Jones' recent book The Language of the Genes. He's a little bit too eager to bend over backwards to be politically respectable, because of the unsavory history of genetics, and he rather goes out of his way to disown those aspects of genetics that are politically disrespectable. I feel that that's over and done with now, and we can forget about it and get on, and I feel he's still a little bit unnecessarily eager to distance himself from the bad aspects of the history of genetics. But I have a lot of time for him; I greatly respect him.”

These two supporters of the British Humanist Assoication are mutual friends and admirers. Yet the President of the Galton Institute has, in the charity - that's right, its a registered charity - much of which to be ashamed in Galton's notorious membership. Yet, as one might suspect, the Galton Institute is not shy of its general ethos which is still, inherently, eugenic.

The Institute has overall control over and ultimate responsibility for the assets of the
Birth Control Trust (of the Galton Institute). This trust was established on 17 July
1978 to administer the assets of The Society for Constructive Birth Control Limited
which was liquidated at that time. The Trust deed provides that the income and assets of the Trust be applied in the provision of birth control for the relief of the poor.

This is from the 2004 Annual Report of the Galton Institute. Nice, eh? So kind of Professor Jones's society to be so concerned with providing 'birth control for the relief of the poor'...

Click here for the Institute's latest newsletter with such riveting pieces as 'Eugenics then and now' by David Galton (membership of this Institute appears hereditary!), an article on the British Society for Population Studies Annual Conference 2008, and Personality and IQ By Patrick James.

The Eugenics Society & the Abortion Society

Click here for a new movie, Maafa 21, which is hopefully taking grassroots USA by storm. Clearly, even a black President thinks eugenics against blacks is good, otherwise he'd have stood up to the World's largest abortion provider. The founding of Birmingham's 'The Cathorpe Clinic' and Planned Parenthood International is not as far removed as one would have thought. At the heart of abortion, is eugenics.

If you have a relatively strong constitution, I would recommend a browse through the membership of the Eugenics Society, now known as The Galton Institute. As well as more infamous members such as Margaret Sanger and lefties we thought were nice like John Maynard Keynes, it gives surprising detail on the employment trends of some of its less notorious members. Pro-life campaigners who have been in the thick of the pro-life movement for years will be familiar with the name of one Dr Martin John Cole. In fact, a friend of mine who grew up in Birmingham knew the name well. He described him in less than flattering terms. It is not surprising. What is frightening in reading about his career is the ease with which gross evil was allowed to have been committed by him, and others like him, throughout his career, and nobody seemed to see that he was making money off the back of both scandalising the young and being at the heart of the Abortion Reform Association. He had a vested interest in it, namely money.

Call me naive, but I didn't realise that as well as a eugenic mindset in those who sought abortion reform, another motive was cash. Lots of it. This links in rather ghastily with the letter below, I think.

In 1989 the Institute for Sex Education and Research Ltd owned the stock of the Calthorpe Ltd abortion facility in Birmingham in the form of preferred stock. This means that the Institute for Sex Education and Research received a fixed sum from Calthorpe Ltd before profits were calculated.

The amount has been £115,000 annually since 1973. Thus Martin Cole and his ideas have been financed by the Calthorpe Ltd, since he controls the Institute for Sex Education and Research. Martin Cole has supported promiscuity for teenagers and prostitution as a medical service. These ideas, in turn, support him since they lead to abortions at the Calthorpe.

During his career he was a sex therapist, the Chairman of the Abortion Law Reform Association Executive Committee, Company Director of Brook Advisory Service and founder of Birmingham Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS). But, along with this he was Founder and Director of the Institute for Sex Education & Research and Calthorpe Nursing Home which was co-founder of the abortion facility now known as The Calthorpe Clinic.

He owned his own publications company, Martin Cole Publications from which he could launch 'Growing Up', a sex 'education' video which, in 1992, was still distributed by Martin Cole Publications and The Institute of Sex Education and Research. This attracted condemnation by Mary Whitehouse, Lord Longford and Margaret Thatcher. The same year he produced a book 'Fundamentals of Sex' which caused particular comment because it contained explicit photographs of the subject matter.

How clever and shrewd are the wicked!? His exploits were perverting the young and fostering a culture of promiscuity. He then picked up the pay cheque when girls fell pregnant in Birmingham and sought his advice. His advice? Abortion for these poor souls and money for his pockets! Wikipedia shows the man is still with us, unless someone hasn't updated it. He can sue me if he wants, for whatever Wikipedia says, nobody remembers the wicked. I've committed some whopping sins in my time but this guy was or is a scandalous man and I've no doubt, having looked through the membership of the Eugenics Society that these creatures went to the top of the medical profession, the pregnancy advice profession, the psychology profession, pharmaceutical profession and a great many other influential areas in which they could wield their knives and dig them into the poor! The same men, the same opportunists and eugenicists are doubtless doing the same now in embryonic research, abortion and the rest. Everytime a pro-life issue comes to Parliament, MPs are seduced by the wiles of these satanically driven men and women making money out of legally institutionalised murder, carnage and heartbreak! That's double wickedness! Making money out of corrupting the young and making money out of their weakness, poverty and misery at the other end!

Abortion: Women's 'Health and Rights?'

Courtesy of The Times Women-Relationships Section. A harrowing real life story in the 'Dear Tanya' problem page. This must constitute a very common reason for abortions in the UK. Many women feel bullied into abortion by men. The ease with which it is procurable only makes the problem worse. There are so many facets to this letter with regard to sex, relationships, marriage, commitment, love and all of this without considering the unheard voice of the baby, that I thought it worth posting. The real life stories of abortion are most certainly not what the abortion industry wants people to know about. They would rather it be sanitised and cleansed from pain or guilt. Meanwhile, women have to pick up the pieces and carry that pain.

Dear Tanya

I’ve been feeling really messed up recently. I can’t put my finger on any one cause but I had an abortion earlier this year, on the same day that my sister gave birth to her second child. This was my second abortion, but unlike the first one, I had wanted to keep this child.

I had hoped that my boyfriend would accept the pregnancy. Instead, he said that I was forcing him into the situation; as soon as I told him I wanted to keep the baby, he said he was leaving. I tried to explain that I felt attached to this one and didn’t want to go through another abortion but he blamed it all on me and his mum and sister backed him up.

When we first started in our relationship we both agreed that we didn’t want children, but a couple of years ago he cheated on me and when we got back together I explained to him that my feelings on that had changed.

When I agreed to the abortion, he said that we’d start trying soon, maybe next year, but I’m sure he won’t stick to it. I feel that I should leave him but I’m scared that if I try to start all over again, at 28, I’ll be too old.

Sad story, eh?

Prince Charles Touches Down at Global Warming Summit

"B*gger me, its freezing! I can't wait to get into the warm!"

Speaking at the Copenhagen summit on climate change HRH the Prince of Wales said...
“I know that so very many of you here today have been negotiating the unbelievably complex details of a potential agreement for a very, very long time, and you must be profoundly weary,” he said. “But this is an historic moment. I can only appeal to you to listen to the cries of those who are already suffering from the impact of climate change. Just as mankind had the power to push the world to the brink so, too, do we have the power to bring it back into balance. You have been called to positions of responsibility at this critical time. The eyes of the world are upon you and it is no understatement to say that, with your signatures, you can write our future.”
Indeed. That's...

'I...................................(Western Leader signature here), promise to shaft you................................(African leader signature here) and turn your continent in a new colonial empire built upon carbon-based slavery.'

The Equality & Human Rights Commission Hotline

The Equality and Human Rights Commission begins working in earnest, stamping upon inequality, unfairness and discrimination like a deranged elephant playing Twister. Wherever it puts its foot, someone's going to get hurt and opening moves suggest that someone will be the Church.

[Ring, ring...ring, ring]

Operator: “Hello, ‘Equality Commission’, Gordon speaking, how can I help?”

Member of public: “Oh yes, hello. Is that the ‘National Hotline for the Persecution of Christians’?”

Operator: “No, this is the ‘Department for Equality’ but I am sure we can help. What seems to be the matter?”

Member of public: “Oh, good. Well, I thought I’d best call. I was just on my to picking up some fish and chips for myself and the family when I was deeply offended. The chip shop owners had a Crucifix on the wall and and an image of the Infant of Prague. I’m an atheist and this has offended me deeply because it has upset my narrow world-view.”

Operator: “I see. Well, let us know the address of this seditious so called ‘fish and chips’ establishment and we’ll see what we can do. It may be that we can issue some kind of an ASBO or apply to the European Court of Human Rights to close them down if they don’t take the Crucifix down. “

Member of public: “Okay, great. Well the address is 49 Battermycod Park Road, Battermygod, London SW1 9JH.”

Operator: “Thanks for the information and we’ll call you back when we’ve acted on it.

Member of public: “Great, thanks very much...”

Operator: “Hello, ‘Equality Commission’, Ed speaking, how can I help?”

Member of public: “Oh, hello. I was just calling because I was just getting off the bus with some shopping when a young man asked me if I needed a hand with my heavy bags. So, naturally I said, “Yes, please.” He helped me to get off the bus with all my shopping which was very kind but then as he got off and turned to go on his way, he said, “Alright, love. God bless!” I was shocked and offended and I don’t need his religion thrust down my throat, so I called the ‘National Hotline for the Persecut -’, I mean, the ‘Department for Equality’ Hotline to notify you straight away.

Operator: “Well, it is good that you have alerted us to this flagrant attack on Equality. What did this violent menace of a gentleman look like and we’ll contact him? He sounds like a terrorist.”

Member of public: “Okay, he was about 6 ft, wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans. Was relatively slim, but I think, if you contact the bus company you’ll be able to get CCTV of him at the exact time he was helping me.”

Operator: “Wonderful. We’ll give you a call back in a day to get more details, we’ve logged your call...”

Naturally, I said, ‘No’ because its an affront to the Catholic Faith to allow it to happen, you understand...”

Operator: “I see. Well, I don’t think we can help you because its his right to be a Satanist and to hire your centre, so I think you’ve called the wrong number. In fact, you could be liable for prosecution if we discover you have discriminated...”
