A blessed Feast of the Chair of the Blessed Apostle Peter to you all.
I've overstretched myself vocally on this song, so like this pontificate, it grates rather.
Like the Chair of Peter, perhaps we should get a professional in, rather than an amateur,
someone who is up to the job.
someone who is up to the job.

Actually, Bones, I thought you did rather well!
Please don’t give give up your voice to the professionals. There is only one Bones who is unique!
Thanks for the laughs, and the great blog.
'The wolves are running,' went a haunting line from an old book of my childhood.
Was it Joan Aitken's 'The Wolves of Willoughby Chase' or John Masefield's 'The Box of Delights'?
Wolves of the human kind are the ones we should fear.
And you are not being alarmist in saying that the chattering wolves are out to tear the Catholic Church to pieces; Francis is the crowd-pleasing pontiff they have been hoping for.
Do the liberal intelligentsia in the church not realize this, or do they have a death-wish?
Or is it just that they have a different 'vision' for the church?
A secular vision.
One beloved by the BBC, politicians and the entertainments industry.
The sorry state of Peter's barque got me thinking about Cuthbert, the great shepherd-saint of the 7th Century.
He was probably born in Melrose, and was said to have been a hillside shepherd as a boy.
While watching his flock one night he had a vision of the great Aidan being carried up to heaven.
Aidan had indeed entered into eternity.
Cuthbert made up his mind to become a priest.
Before Saint Cuthbert's lifetime, faith in Christ's church had spread from sea-girt Iona to the green borderlands of Tweed, Ettrick and Yarrow.
The Gospel was brought to the heathen by the monks of Northumberland who had sat under Saint Columba.
Whenever I hear wordly preaching that flatters men instead of honouring God, I always think about Columba, Aidan and Cuthbert, our homegrown saints.
Fierce and holy men from whom the devil fled.
We need priests and men and women in the laity like these three.
'A light to lighten the Gentiles and thy people, Israel.'

@54 is that Msgr. Ricca standing behind him as he pays his hotel bill?
Dear Gen: I have not had time to properly digest your 'barquepeter' blogspot, but I see that you have dabbled in automatic writing.
Under no circumstance must you be drawn into such an activity again; it is occult, esoteric, from the Devil.
In doing so you are opening your soul to unclean spirits and demonic influence like the shamans, gurus, mediums, spiritualists, 'channellers' and Yoga adepts.
You refer to the vision of Pope Leo XIII on October 13 1884 during which he heard two distinct voices; the voice he identified as Satan said that he only needed between seventy-five and 100 years to destroy the Church.
Following his experience Pope Leo composed the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel to be solemnly recited at the end of Low Mass.
As an altar boy at the time of the Latin rite I remember reciting this very great prayer during Lenten Masses.
A Catholic friend of mine who lives in Dunblane says the prayer to Archangel Michael daily after she recites the Rosary in her home.
For reasons no one has ever really explained this prayer (one of the three Leonine Prayers) was eliminated from the New Mass in 1964.
If I may quote a letter of Marcel Lefebvre written in 1987 following his pilgrimage to Fatima where he consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (quoted on Page 549 of the biography of the Archbishop by Bernard Tissier de Mallerais):
'The See of Peter and the posts of authority in Rome being occupied by anti-Christs, the destruction of the Kingdom of our Lord is being rapidly carried out ... especially through the corruption of the Holy Mass which is both the splendid expression of the triumph of our Lord on the Cross - Regnavit a ligno Deus - and the source of the extension of His Kingdom over souls and over societies ...'
Matthew 7:15: 'Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.'
The Novus Ordo came with honeyed words, but in some cases the Mass has become an outlandish ritual with dancing girls and camp priests, nothing but New Age witchcraft.
Bishops particularly in the United States have permitted the desecration of the Mass.
There is little sense of reverence during the receiving of the Eucharist.
One young woman in Brazil broke off a piece of the Eucharist and tucked it into the shirt pocket of her lover (YouTube).
The spineless bishops have much to answer for.
Wolves in sheep's clothing indeed.

Yes. Its Mgr Ricca.
Mr Bones. It is not the Pontificate that grates the Catholic soul, but rather the lack of it = anti-Church and Its heresiarchs - the lack of a Pontiff and the insistence, by the world, of what is Church and who is the successor of Peter...as taught by...the world.
Bravo, again, dear “Bones!” Wolves, indeed, they truly are. Keep up the good work and take care of your voice so that you can keep singing the Truth to us. So very glad that you have been featured on Sunlit Uplands blog! Praying for you and wish I could meet you, Mama Jo in the USA
