Yes he made threatening remarks in a public form so I think it was right for him to be detained. He is being held under equivalent legislation to the Mental Health Act Section 2 (up to 30 days detainment for psychiatric assessment) in this country. If he is judged as sane then he will be released but could be arrested for a public order offence. I think this sounds reasonable and is within the rule of law since there is due process. He will have the right to appeal against any decisions etc.
I notice that Fr Ray has dropped you from his blog roll. I'm guessing he's trying to protect himself from an fall-out from your extreme views and over-interpretations of catholic teaching?

As for this particular case, I suspect we're not getting the whole story on precisely what was posted. I note original story mentioned the Secret Service too...which would seem to indicate a possible death threat on 'himself.' So they will detain this fellow to get it sorted and see what's what.
